Considering the Blue Jays beat the Texas Rangers in the playoffs, the BJ logo might be a bit much - but no one trolls fans of the other teams like the in-house guy in Dallas.

My LEAST favorite thing when I go to a Sabres - Canes game in Raleigh is the video of Jim Kelly saying "Let's Go Canes!"

Abdelkader closing in on 7 years extension...

Holland really losing his touch (not like he has done anything but bad moves for a long time). The Cleary-saga..

Absolutely NO Wings-fan is but furious about that info, it should tell you enough.

That contract most likely is going to be one of those contracts that were known to be disasters from the point they were signed. Sure, it depends on the actual salary and possible trade-clauses included, but that term is totally disastrous.

According to you he should get +5 millions...

And according to you there is absolutely no reason for Wings-fans being as upset they are - he is signing with a discount! But I'm sure you know better...

I truly kind of overrated Ken Holland here. I haven't thought him as a good GM for a long time (once he was), but I didn't really thought that his love with familiar guys was making him this blind (a thing that led Chiarelli being axed and almost led Lombardi getting in serious trouble (but he found a way to void Richards' contract other ways)). The Clearly thing surely gave you some indication, but I just didn't thought it would be the rule.

I don't find any value in the opinion of fans who thought Abdelkader didn't belong in the NHL 3 years ago

I don't recall there being a consensus like that among Wings-fans 3 years ago. Abdelkader has gotten time to time whip, but that has more to do with the fact that he is playing in a role above his skillset. It's kind of some when Weber is forced to play in a top-4-role. It's not actually his fault.

But I doubt you find many if any beside you (and Holland!) who think that the contract Abdelkader is rumoured to get is a good or even decent one.

I understand the need for Abdelkader in Detroit's line-up. Now when Franzen is pretty much done health-wise, they have only soft midget wingers. And that is pretty much 100% on Holland, who hasn't adressed that need. But trying to cover that failure by doing another failure is a recipe for disaster.

That Draisaitl kid has 10 points in 6 games. Pretty good, eh?

Watched the Oil-Anaheim game last night and he's in prime position to benefit. He's getting time on the wing with RNH and Hall and his ability to find seems for quality shots is evident.

I didn't want Reinhart and even I think that is a stupid statement. But it fits your M.O.

I praise Murray when it's worthy, but I also criticise when it's worthy.

I'm not criticising him for the Reinhart pick. I think Reinhart is going to be one of the best two-way forwards in the game, just needs time to grow.

It's fair to have the conversation though, did Murray pick the wrong guy? I say no.

Yeah, that line has some great chemistry and talent. Draisaitl doesn't look out of place at all, and sometimes looks like the best player they have. But that defense... Woof. Thought Mclellen would be able to implement some structure, but that team is just overrun with floaters.

It certainly helps to play almost exclusively with RNH and Hall - Eichel will get there, and surpass those two, but right now we don't have equivalent offensive pieces to those guys. Ice times are also drastically different:

Draisaitl - 17:04 ESTOI, 2:04 PPTOI
Reinhart - 10:57 ESTOI, 2:30 PPTOI

Leon is getting 6 mins/game more in the two phases where almost all goals are scored, and he has better offensive linemates. I'd love to see Bylsma give Reinhart more opportunity. Also, it'll be interesting to see how Draisaitl performs if McLellan goes back to the tried and true Hall-RNH-Eberle line if/when Hall-RNH-Draisaitl hit a rough patch.
