Around The NHL #13

Twitter is going nuts over Bedard's superhuman ability to skate with a broken jaw. Never mind that it's normal and broken jaws don't prevent your legs from working.

I would think that other teams are the one bringing Chych's name up and OTT is just listening, but what do I know. Wouldn't Chych's very team friendly contract along with his production make him one to keep since their having issues winning games along with the cap? I mean, that's why other teams would be asking about him at least.

I think it has more to do with the ability to move Chabot's $8M contract without retention, what Chychrun can get in a trade, and that JC only has 1 more year after this one, left on his contract.

March 1st isn't that long away...

I was looking over at the Sens board to see what their consensus was. Sounds like a majority are willing to move on from Chych. He doesn't seem as popular with OTT fans as I expected. My take was completely wrong.

I believe acquiring Chychrun was one of the criticisms of Pierre not working well with others. They already have high profile left handed LDs in Chabot and Sanderson so you either use Chychrun as a bottom pairing D on the left side or you have him working as a left handed RD and there are folks that don't like that.

Chabot and Sanderson will be making $18 mil. between them. The salary cap prevents a third D making that kind of money I would think. Also, new owner, new coach and new GM. Chych won't be the only one.

I'd love to get Jacob Chychrun back for our '24 1st ( top 5 protected).

...and if we could get Ferraro!

JC JJ
MF SD
JV MK

Defense would go from weak to a strength!

And with a healthy BH, there will be no stopping the Coyotes...

If Ottawa wants the Kassian picks (‘24 EDM 3rd & ‘25 EDM 2nd) and their own 2nd in ‘26 back (Chychrun trade), I’d do that. If they’d rather not wait until ‘26 for that additional 2nd, I’d offer the Nick Ritchie 2nd (‘25 TOR).

Chych isn't what we need, he is a middle pairing D on D. We need a better defensive D man then Chych to help our team. We have point production and it looks like that will continue to improve over time, scoring D isn't a high priority.

We've got Szuber coming and one of the reasons why Tucson Roadrunners are really good this season is because of their defense, which Szuber is a big a part of.

Future left-side on D looks really, really good:
Simashev, Moser, Szuber, Duda

not to mention Kipkie & Langlois
