Given his background, I would be shocked if Vince Vaughan wasn't a Blackhawks guy. (I'm pretty sure Will Ferrell grew up in Orange County, but obviously before the Ducks existed. So he's legit.)
 
All signs point to Toronto forking out 11+ mil to Nylander. Their cap structure is just wild.

It's nice to have real goalie depth throughout the org:

2 good ones in the NHL
Villalta has been really good in Tucson is only 24, his back-up Thornton is only 20.
Hrabel might be the best goalie prospect the Coyotes have ever had....only 19.
Thelin and Musser also drafted last year after Hrabel.

Big change from prior years with the 1-2 year NHL rentals and Prosvetov as the only legit NHL prospect.

If some team comes calling for Veggie and deal is right (young NHL dman or high-end D prospect) GMBA has the depth to make it happen.

I like Bedard but the media lovefest is nauseating. They had the Calder polished up for him before he even played a game.

I think we still need a better backup in Tucson. We're going to overwork Villalta. A few decent goalies have been on waivers lately but their cap hit has been too high. Dylan Wells on a tryout looks like an OK fit for Tucson but I'd like to see more first.

On HNIC, Bieksa and Hrudey applauded Zucker dealing with the "rat" Cousins. Basically if the league wont take care of it the players have to. Bieks said its almost enough to do away with the instigator rule.

They even brought up Raffi Torres as an example of a player the league did not like the hits he was throwing and made an example of him (long suspensions).

so Toronto is gonna do:

11.5 for Nylander
13.25 for Matthews
10.9 for Marner
11.0 for Tavares

That's nearly 47M for four guys, and even with a rising cap, that leaves like 40M for 19 guys... Reilly also makes 7.5 so it's really like 32M for 18 guys.

Another thing on Nylander ... he has pretty much been a point-per-game player the past few years. I think that is what you can expect production wise. Now he has a big breakout, in a contract year no less, and is about to turn 28.

Treliving really is trash.

And both Marner and Tavares are UFA the following season. They will have to let Tavares walk. marner will want $13+

I think Tavares next contract will provide the raises Nylander and Marner want but that won't help next season.
