Around The NHL #13

And did much more. Coyotes crime was against whole league while Sens was against one team.
Stab one guy or fart in one bus. Which is the worse crime? Everyone on the bus has to smell the fart, afterall. And it’s just one dude who gets stabbed.

The complaints were illegitimate the day they were made. As were the complaints of what happened.
These are mutually exclusive.

I suspect we will find out shortly, maybe even this afternoon, if the Sens made a mistake with list or it was intentional. If it was intentional Dorian will probably be on his way out.

"The determination as to which pick will be forfeited will be made by Ottawa within 24 hours of the conclusion of the Draft Lottery for that year."

WTF!? They even get to wait and see how the draft lottery turns out before choosing too?

Very nice for them. Very accommodating by the league.

IIRC, he had been in for like a few months, but was still getting up to speed? Ahron Cohen was overseeing things when that all went down, I believe. But I could be off on the exact timeline
That's what I recall. I was listening to 32 Thoughts yesterday and Elliotte was saying the league would go easy on Ottawa because of new ownership. Why did Meruelo get a hammer to the head when he was unaware of Chayka's behavior?

Because the Coyotes have absolutely no leeway to act like a regular franchise. They exist almost solely on the goodwill of Gary Bettman and the grudging support of the BoG. So if someone like Chayka decides to take undue advantage of that largesse, we're going to get smacked down hard.

Chicago covered up sexual assault and got Connor Bedard anyway.

Of course they did, because an Original Six team in one of America's biggest hockey markets must be protected at all costs.

I think Friedman's go easy was in reference to a 1st round pick. As in the League wouldn't be harsh enough to penalize them the penalty they got today. New Owner Andlauer sure didn't pull any punches today.

I wish I could recall the timeline on it all. Maybe AM should have fired JC immediately when the story broke to prevent such harsh penalties. Maybe Chayka had already quit by then. That's what I don't recall.

Meruelo bought Coyotes in June of 2019. The Coyotes were found to have conducted testing during NHL season of 19-20. They were given their penalty summer of 2020. Meruelo was Owner at time of infraction and penalty.
