Now maybe the media can help by leaving the Players that choose not to participate alone. After all that's what caused this overreaching policy. Tolerance is not a one way street.
The NHL had two completely unforced controversies as a result of this. First the whole Provorov thing (good for Provorov!) and now the whole Dermott thing (good for Dermott!). All of this could have been avoided with common sense. Now maybe the media can help by leaving the Players that choose not to participate alone. After all that's what caused this overreaching policy. Exactly right. You cannot force acceptance for any reason and everyone should welcome support when offered. Hopefully common sense can start entering the equation and division can leave. The NHL had two completely unforced controversies as a result of this. Let’s hope everyone learns from this and behaves as you’ve suggested. Like decent, tolerant people.
At least nobody attacked Dermott for his decision and he didn’t get his name dragged dragged through the mud. Hopefully that’s a good sign that people have learned since the circus nonsense following Provorov’s decision.

Common sense has left the building years ago, thanks to social media.Exactly right. You cannot force acceptance for any reason and everyone should welcome support when offered. Hopefully common sense can start entering the equation and division can leave.

That is the last thing we need as an organization is another player with personal demons. We need a 10yr stretch without these types of situations in my book. Let's not try to redeem another player.Don't see how someone not under contract can be suspended. Betcha he was betting on the Diamondbacks. The sens should trade him real cheap to a far off messed up destination like Tempe!
I used to listen to Bill Cosby's comedy albums back in the '80s (before The Troubles), and there was a bit from the Himself album when he talks about cocaine. He asks someone what is so great about cocaine, and the person responds, "Well, it enhances your personality." And Cosby responds, "Yes, but what if you're an asshole?"
Social media is like that, only multiplied a thousand times. The Internet as a whole has been good for information distribution, but it's also led to an avalanche of misinformation/disinformation and people "enhancing" their personalities to ridiculous levels.
I still have his early albums from the 60’s.
Got to meet and talk with him for about an hour before he went out to do a show at Cal Poly in ‘72 Wasn’t the same person he’s been characterized as now because it was a different stage in his life.
As humans we can get so easily sucked into things. I’ll always believe he got drawn into that world that took him down and for reasons only he knows.
...but we have experience with those situations. I do wonder how long the Sens knew about it, if that was the real reason he isn't signed? Formenton and now Pinto? And your talking about demons in this organization? Only kidding! I'm just being amused...That is the last thing we need as an organization is another player with personal demons. Don't care if he's good, let someone else take the responsibility.

But is the suspension taking place without a contract? And if they are waiting, is it pro-ratedSens definitely knew the investigation was going on, but they're planning on resigning him once his suspension is over from what I've seen of their comments. No sense signing him now, though, because they can save some pennies.
IDK, but the Sens luck out in this one. Don't have to pay him and prolong the cap situation. Furthermore, if he had been signed already the suspension is long enough that he would have been ineligible to play the remainder of the season upon completion of its duration. But is the suspension taking place without a contract? Pinto situation is strange. According to Friedman, he did not bet on hockey and it was the misuse of his betting app that apparently someone else had control of.
Probably not, but I grabbed the popcorn hoping to read some conspiracy theories. And if his name was McDavid or Bedard would he get the same treatment? I'm doubtful.
My dad had 4 of those, that I listened to so many times I had them memorized, to the point that I did "the playground" for a high school speech class...and got praise from the teacher for not trying to imitate Bill...which demonstrated that she'd never heard the LP, because I had him *down*.I still have his early albums from the 60’s
