Karma for Babs....This comes down the person himself. He has no morals. I thought much of the talk about him were just pissed off players, but this, like you said, is over the top.

Because he’s such a good person, he’ll be a more effective coach, than good coaches that are not as good of people.
Wright was a double underager. So Seattle gets a “gentleman’s agreement” that allows Shane Wright to play in the AHL this year if he doesn’t make Seattle’s roster.
Im sorry can someone explain to me why the f*** that is? Where was the “gentleman’s agreement” when Strome was clearly too good for the OHL and would’ve been perfect in the AHL for a year? Or Domi for that matter? This is like the second guy Seattle’s picked and they’re already getting preferential treatment. You know who could possibly benefit from AHL playing time this year? Conor Geekie, where’s his gentleman’s agreement?
It seems kinda bullshit to me
I don’t think Strome would’ve been better off in the AHL and I definitely don’t believe Geekie would be.So Seattle gets a “gentleman’s agreement” that allows Shane Wright to play in the AHL this year if he doesn’t make Seattle’s roster.

That's what the Internet is for my man. Get it off your chest. All of those reasons make sense but I still feel like whining about it
The number of people who still defend Babcock is insane. Truly does prove abusers protect other abusers
I don’t think Jenner was actually ok with it. He was probably asked to say something by management, or was worried about managements reaction. The interactions were also different with Jenner than they were with other players. Ryan Whitney said a younger player told him that he was invited over to Babcock’s house for lunch…when he arrived he was almost immediately asked to go through his pictures on his phone. This lasted several minutes apparently. Then when he was done he said, “Ok, you’re good to go.” No lunch. Nothing. The guy is a complete whack job.In my opinion, as well as many others, do think what Babcock did was wrong, but many thought it was no big deal, including the Captain of the Jackets. We don't know how this all went down behind closed doors, but asking to invade someone's privacy putting a player under duress is enough for firing his ass. What pisses me off is that people are saying this is old time coaching, which to me is total BS. I haven't heard of any other coaches EVER doing this so to label this behavior as "old time coaching" is not fair to the other coaches out there. It all comes down to treating people with respect, and that has nothing to do with age.
man, i am so looking forward to them sliding down the atlantic division. but I thought that last year and was soooo wrong, until the playoffs startedBrad Marchand named the new captain of the Bruins.
I really have no opinion on Babcock. I never really followed his career that closely, although I was definitely hoping for his failure in Toronto. From what I've read, he resigned because players were upset that he wanted to share family photos as a way of bonding the team. Maybe I'm missing something or it's my baby boomer mentality, but I don't understand what all the fuss is about. What am I overlooking? In my opinion, as well as many others, do think what Babcock did was wrong, but many thought it was no big deal, including the Captain of the Jackets. This incident is beyond old school, but Mike’s other antics have fit “old school” to a “T.”In my opinion, as well as many others, do think what Babcock did was wrong, but many thought it was no big deal, including the Captain of the Jackets. The allegations are that the "bonding" explanation is a cover story for Babcock pressuring his players into showing him their phone photos to see what kind of people they are (i.e., a player with lots of party photos would allegedly not be trustworthy or hard-working or etc.). And if you think there's nothing wrong with that, imagine if your boss came into your office/cubicle/etc. and asked you on the spur of the moment to do the same thing.
I completely agree, but to play devils advocate: if he’s not using pics to cast judgement (which I doubt) and honestly thinks it will help them all be more successful? After all anything known of a player can help with motivating same. Trouble is, there’s just no way to tell, but I sincerely doubt the intentions were good here. If the no lunch after lunch invite above )Foggy 1097) is true, it’s some crazy twisted intimidation happening there.
See my edit… you might appreciate. From a high-level standpoint, I understand the best case scenario about it being a harmless way to do team building. But in execution, it's just creepy and an invasion of privacy. If the players had opted in - like, if the coaching staff presented it as a way for the guys to get to know each other, etc. - then that'd be one thing, but from all reports that's not how it went down.
I wonder if anything leaks out of Saskatchewan. He coached the full 2021 season there. Those players aren't future NHLers and wouldn't have much to lose by sharing some juice. One would think a TMZ (hockey) version journalist like Katie Strang is digging into that. Then again, Babs maybe behaved differently there as he was coaching alongside his son, and it was just after one season of a two year contract when he announced his retirement from the University. It's been no secret that players hate Babcock, but we're gonna get a lot more detail as to why, now. Sounds like a total dick.

He chose a few people to do what you described. Others had a much different experience. Including prospects he allegedly invited over to his house for “lunch” (individually and alone) only for them to discover when they arrived that he would demand they hand over their phone, so he could go through their texts and photos, after which he would send them on their way without lunch or conversation, or any of the stated reasons for their coming to his home. Which is manipulative, predatory, an invasion of privacy, a hostile work environment and certainly firable.I really have no opinion on Babcock.
