Around The NHL #13

Dubois is an RFA. I can't see the Habs putting together a trade piece with Winnipeg that would involve Dubois. They can get him in a year.
Really?

If Montreal really wants him - and they already tried to acquire him twice - they are not going to risk another team trading for him and extending. I expect it to happen at the draft.

Something could happen at the draft I guess, but I think it's currently the other way around. He wants Montreal more than Montreal wants him. He's a quitter and not something the Habs want in their locker room to rebuild around.
The Jets are in a bind though. Bowness tanked the value of all his core players. PLD, Scheif and Wheeler are on the outs and fans are venting as the core has failed them for five years now.
It would cost the Habs something around Dvorak and the Florida 1st. Would you pay that if you can sign him for free next year?

I would send Dvorak and Florida 1st without blinking if I knew cost to sign PLD long term was reasonable. Thats a very good center group for the Habs going forward.

Any attitude problems might not be an issue in Montreal too. Maybe he'd be happy there. Playing for Columbus and Winnipeg aren't ideal for every player.

He has wanted to go home since the beginning. Will it solve everything, maybe. But when this Guy comes to play he is a Stud. I personally wouldn't sell the farm for him but Dvorak and a late 1st, hell yes.

Oy…

Marc Bergevin, former GM of the Montreal Canadiens, Jason Botterill, current assistant GM for the Seattle Kraken, John Chayka who is also in the Flyers’ search, Mathieu Darche from the Tampa Bay Lightning, and one other name in the mix is Ryan Martin, assistant GM for the New York Rangers.

I could def see Chayka getting the Pittsburgh job. They’re looking for a corporate candidate. And they have a coach who wants to do more than coach.

At least we are not the Flyers. I like Keith Jones as an analyst but he has no business becoming a president of hockey ops. Briere as a rookie general manager is already a risk. They’re in such a weird spot with Tortorella too. His skill set doesn’t mesh with a team that really should be entering a rebuild.

Flyers need to clean house and tell all those alumni like Clarke and Holmgren and the rest of the gang to pack their shit. That org is very similar to what Edmonton used to be.

I could see Chayka doing okay with a good senior advisor and with lessons learned here. I don't think he'll ever be a great GM though.
