Around The NHL #13

Damn just noticed it's Toronto and Tampa in the first round again. Finals quality matchup in the first round. Only in the NHL do you get this kind of competition throughout the playoffs.

And hopefully Toronto loses in the first round again (are they close to a record in that regard?) and Matthews gets more shit for it. Would make the almost non-existent media coverage in AZ look that much better.

Good for Don. Good guy he did well here short of the Strome pick and Ribeiro signing.

Could Treliving have a role on BA’s staff?

Good for Donny!

Wonder if the Penguins will hire Treliving?

Sounds like Sullivan has pulled a Tippett-like move in Pittsburgh. He has an extension through 2027 that hasn’t kicked in yet and rumored (by NHL Network/Sirius) to be playing a bigger role with front office decisions.

He is a Boston guy and the Pens are owned by the Red Sox group. I'd be surprised if Chia doesn't somehow worm his way into that situation.

I thought Treliving made a mess there. Like seven years and he couldn’t find a goalie or a coach. I wouldn’t hire him as GM again.

He sucks. Got great press for no reason at all until about 2 years ago.

Had nothing against the guy in his tenure here, was a good GM candidate at the time, didn't work out.

Many thought he was the second coming when he went there.

I could actually see Ol Johnny Baconator interviewing in Pittsburgh.
Fast forward to 2026:

Staring at his own belly button: “Sidney, I didn’t invite you to my favorite breakfast spot just because they have the best egg whites and cricket powder in Pittsburgh. Or even because of how efficient the services times are. No, there’s another topic we need to discuss. It’s about your future and the future of the Penguins…”

He signed a goalie who was 2nd in Vezina last season? What should he have done when Gaudreau and Tkachuk informed him they were leaving? I think he did a really good job except for the coach. The coach showed all year he wasn't getting the most out of players.

Extension offer came from ownership at the start of the season. Why wouldn’t Treliving take that? At least then you still get paid. There is no guarantee he gets hired this summer.

Maloney still has his knack for one liners.

“If I was ownership, I would have walked me to the city line and said start walking east”
