Around The NHL #13

Jonathan Toews is not being resigned by Chicago. Wonder if he retires since he's still got some long COVID stuff going on.

I think it's more between the ears stuff going on.
I'm sure you have a better understanding than the player himself???

“First of all, thank you to the fans and all those who have shown concern about my absence. I’m still dealing with the symptoms of Long COVID and Chronic Immune Response Syndrome," Toews said in a statement released by the Blackhawks.

"It has been really challenging to play through these symptoms. In the last few weeks, it has reached the point where I had no choice but to step back and concentrate on getting healthy. I am thankful for the patience and support of my teammates, the coaching staff, and the entire Blackhawks organization.”

Does Toews’ (perceived) apathetic comments about the Kyle Beach situation also factor into his departure?

He's about to turn 35, has been ill for over a year, hasn't played well in a few years, and has won everything. I think he's earned the right to ponder his future this summer and it's easy to understand why he wouldn't want another Chicago season.

I thought covid was nothing to elite athletes who looked after themselves? I'm sure I read that here? 😇

Long COVID is not a conspiracy theory. It's very real, and very debilitating for the long term. My money is on Toews retiring.

No. The Blackhawks would circle the wagons around him if Toews was anywhere close to 100% physically.

Same Jakey that would have us believe he’s capable of working smarter, not harder!

So you're gonna defend a conspiracy theory by discrediting what Toews has been diagnosed with, is going through, and also by calling HIM crazy? lol
Ignorance of the “plan demic” crowd never admits being wrong, it’s just what ignorance does.

He's done. He's just another player not wanting to admit it's time to retire.

I didn't call him crazy.

Fair enough. But "between the ears stuff" does imply that something is off mentally and that there's nothing physically wrong with him.
Some players don't want to admit their done. I believe it was injuries that did him in. Retire and enjoy your millions with your family and friends.

Montreal has more ROW than AZ. If they can squeeze a single point out of this game then the Coyotes fate will be in their own hands.

Is it really too much to ask that Montreal and Buffalo just win?
Yes

And we all know how that will go

And their 7th defenseman, who is 40th in the league among D in pts/gm.
I think he's their 9th defenseman :naughty:

I mean 11th? dman...

After the Oilers get upset in the 1st round and waste another year of McDavid and Co .....their first free agent signing should be Toews. As great as McDavid is he does not have the leadership skills nor intensity to inspire a team to a Stanley Cup. He's the DeAndre Ayton of Hockey.

Toews would be the perfect complement (even if his offensive production has declined to a bottom 6 forward).
