The Canucks are the antithesis of the Jets right now. Unsustainable shooting percentage, everything going in, riding the highest of confidence. Demko is a very good goaltender but he'll come back to earth.

Once their confidence falters, they will regress to where they should be, a team fighting for a playoff spot.

They remind me of the Jets of a couple of seasons ago. They started out on a hot streak, then once they came down to earth went on quite a losing streak.

I think they were out of a playoff spot by US Turkey day IIRC.

Perhaps Kane has turned his life around, but that shit follows you around for a long time. I have no doubt that he is still part of the problem in Edm......even if indirectly.

I mean, it was early in this losing streak that Kane took a detour from the dressing room to complain to Scott Oake about going down to the third line; I for one would be SHOCKED that so selfless a player could continue to be a pox in the dressing room.

I thought Wallstedt was a good option for us at the time (we drafted Lucius) as there was no certainty that Helle would extend.

How in the heck did the oilers trade down and miss him to only pick up an extra 3rd round pick??

Not saying he would be a savior at the moment, but he was good value I thought where he was drafted, and such an obvious need for them.

They drafted Broberg because they "needed" D and the next pick Zegras went

Kanes ex wife needs help, but Imagine the DMs she sends McDavid and teammates if this is what she's publicly tweeting @mcdavid... You cant tell me Kane's Baggage isnt a locker room distraction..

Oilers knew what they were bringing in, and they didnt care how cancerous it was.. as long as it scored goals..

This post goes out to all the Edmonton fans that told me Kane just didnt want to be in a racist city.

Wish i didnt have to say this, but i told you this guy's history would be a distraction.

Lauren is McDavids fiance..

And Theres no doubt in my mind Kane said these things.
Who posts shit like this (what Kane's ex posted)?

I could understand giving Campbell $5 million per year despite limited success...really half a season in Toronto. What I don't understand is how he was able to leverage that into a 5 year contract from the Oilers. Would there have actually been any other teams that would offer him that term despite having a mediocre 2nd half of the 2021-22 season and a poor playoffs? I have my doubts. I would like to think 3 years at the same AAV would have got it done. Assuming he never finds his game, the Oilers will be stuck with his $5 million cap hit for the next 3 years unless they buy him out. I'm not sure what the buyout would be in terms of cap hit.

As for the Canucks, I did think they would make the playoffs as a wild card team this season. They do have some core pieces that every teams covets - a top-5 centre in the league, a possible top-5 d in the league (probably top-10 at this point easily) and a possible top10 goalie. That's a strong core for a possible Stanley Cup contender. Of course, they need to add some more pieces around that. Adding Hronek in the off-season to improve the defense was a nice start.

The gambling public has the right to know the facts.

I'd trade almost the whole Oilers team starting today. Kane, McDavid, Drai, Nurse, Skinner, RNH, etc.
I'd keep Foegel, Elkhorn, That Leaf guy, and maybe Gagner. That is all.

Why did McDavid sign 8 years? This was the coup of the century (at least decade) for Edmonton.
He should be making 20% of Cap.
