I believe Babcock on this one. No multi-millionaire veteran NHL player is going to surrender his phone to a coach. Forget the photos, there are all kinds of things on an unlocked phone like banking, identity and other personal info that no NHL'r would surrender to a coach even if you had "nothing to hide" in terms of photos. I would maybe believe it if he was doing this to rookies or Jr players but as things stand Babcock/Jenner version of the story is way more believable than what Spittin' Chicklets are pushing.

The league isn't watered down enough yet I guess...

I mean thats 62.5 million each if Dreggers $2 billion price tag is accurate. Hard to see many y owners saying no to that.

The current 32 teams is such a good number - 16 per conference. But for $2B anything's possible. Who in Atlanta's willing to pony up that kind of cash though?

Maybe Quebec City, Hamilton or another Canadian city will eventually get another Atlanta NHL team...:sarcasm:

Another Atlanta team enhances Canada's chance of getting another team. The more merrier.

2030 Atlanta > Quebec

2050 Atlanta > Hamilton
Sorry, beat me to it...

I don't know if the NHL understands this but in most of the Southern United States they are behind the NFL, NBA, MLB, NCAAB, NCAAF, MLS, and NASCAR, sure kids have picked up the game but that hasn't translated to the boom the NHL hope in terms of eyeballs watching the game.

Well..... that didn't take long.

The cast of Spittin’ Chiclets took to their latest podcast and shared a story about word coming out of the Blue Jackets organization as it relates to the latest stunt Babcock is trying to pull. Apparently, Paul Bissonnette was called by a player and asked, “Did you hear what’s already going on in Columbus?” The story goes that Babcock called Boone Jenner into his office and demanded he give him his cell phone so the coach could go through the photos to see what type of person (captain) he had.

Some people will never change their questionable practices.

There weren't any real surprises when Babcock told Patrik Laine to connect his phone to the screens via AirPlay...

Well the head of the PA is flying to Columbus to personally meet with the players. Gotta think a number of players weren't happy with it if he's flying down.

On Mike, how dumb is he to ask his charges for personal pictures. They aren't relevant to his job at all and comes across as creepy.

I demand to see HF Jets browser histories :sarcasm:

Better be careful what you ask for. Who knows what sites some of us visit

Which reminds me of a scene from the Drew Carey show from wayback when:

"I already subscribe to the cartoon channel, and I heard if you subscribe to that and the Playboy channel they put you on a special list."

When the NHLPA feels it's worthy to get on a plane to talk to the players face to face....there might be some fire in that smoke.

100% not the way I heard the story.
Said he just asked players to see pictures of their wives and kids to try to get to know the players.

So mark that down. If Winnipeg loses the Jets we can expect to get a third kick at the cat!

Newest report says something like he asked some players to show photos themselves and straight up asked for phones from others. And then in addition to that Michael Russo's reporting that players weren't really aware that it was going to happen.

Just a cut and dry abuse of authority by the sound of it and given Babcock's history the scrutiny was obviously going to be severe.
