This is the internet... you don't have to know anything to have an opinion!

Facebook is amazing. Experts on submersibles, climate, wars, other countries and what's best for them, aliens, deadly disease.. politics, so many experts on politics also... every sport even throwing stupid bean bags in a hole or Frisbee golf, everyone is an expert

Meanwhile when they greet you when you walk into Wal-Mart, you wouldn't have guessed that the special looking guy who can barely say hello, well, he's a rocket scientist online

Also, there were two different franchises who went out of their way to help the Jets. Sent years of all private financial details from their clubs regarding revenue streams, expenses, marketing, salaries, etc, etc to help the Jets to see if they were missing out on something or had really bad structure that could be changed to assist. The league tried to fix what was broken. The arena owned by WEC was the major problem. I have seen these binders. There were about 12 different site and size proposals reviewed for a new facility as well to get the ownership of the building into club hands.

Again, the all mighty dollar came into play.

Not sure if I'm allowed to disclose the two current franchises who reached out to help, so will keep that to myself as well at this time.
Winnipeg Enterprises was a joke, how could any team survive when they were taking all of the money from food and booze and parking. I wouldn't have wanted to own the Jets under those circumstances either.

Such a different era. Winnipeg gets a pro hockey team back in the WHA and there are no luxury boxes, no upper deck, no parking, concessions etc etc. They basically rent a public facility to run a professional hockey club. Fast forward and they end up in the NHL and slowly the business model changes and without a salary cap and new arena deal the ownership group were in over their heads.

I look back at those old videos and those must of been very trying times on the owners trying to get a deal together to keep the team in Winnipeg.

Not to mention they got totally demonized by the fans for trying to keep the team in Winnipeg. Especially considering anyone with any business acumen wouldn't be anywhere near that task. They were doing it for love of the team and city.

Interesting how a similar scenario just played out with the Ice

I myself have never had a client have their employment impacted by an out-of-court settlement. However, I have also never represented anyone in a case even remotely as high profile as this one. Of course, from a legal perspective, profile shouldn't matter, but practically it just doesn't come up unless it's plastered all over the news.

Yea I was reviewing Westhead’s tweet on this topic and he reported on July 12th:

“If NHL names and suspends players allegedly involved, affected players would likely appeal any sanctions to an arbitrator, as per CBA, and may pursue defamation lawsuits vs league, said agent of one player who attended 2018 Hockey Canada gala.”

Then Katie Strang reported yesterday:

“Asked whether NHL will announce any resolution on 2018 WJC investigation prior to NHL training camps opening, NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly said via email he does not “have a specific timetable to share at this time”

My guess is this a very complicated matter from a liability perspective not to mention the London Police have an ongoing investigation into the matter still?

I remember how stressed out Shenkarow appeared at the time. I use to see him at allot of the 2.0 era Jets games because his season tickets seats were close to mine. He is obviously still a really proud Jets fan.

Yup 💯

That was the big issue. Buying the team was one thing, but then having the money for construction of a team owned and run barn was all on top of that. They just couldn’t get there in time.

It's funny i never blamed our owner i blamed the greed of the players for wanting so much money to play a game. That's why when we lost the Jets i stopped watching all NHL hockey basically until we got the Jets back.

FOR FUN
JETS and CAYOTES all time starting 6.
Who would your all time starting 6 be if we can combine the 2 line ups?

I stopped watching the NHL too. I think I tuned in to the occasional playoff game but I just switched to English Football and Really enjoyed it.

Me three, as soon as the Jets 1.0 left for Phoenix, I stopped watching hockey. The Jets were my team and I couldn't support any other. It was sheer joy when we got a team back, and now you are all stuck with me in this forum...

"After 15 full NHL seasons I have decided to retire from the best league in the world," Krejci said. "I have been very lucky to be on so many good teams and play with so many great players."

Their centreman depth is now officially ass. Time to step up to the plate and trade for Scheifele!

They don't have many exciting prospects that fit the Jets needs
No 1st, 2nd or 3rd round picks next year.
Boston only has about $500k in cap space left for next year.

The Jets and Bruins are not very strong trade partners. Maybe can get really creative with a third team to facilitate however.
