That's bringing up memories of getting French fries in a paper boat at the local rink in 1981 when I was a kid, but they probably cost 50 cents.
I used to get so excited about those hopeless crappy hamburgers at hockey... they really did just taste amazing after a game

Guess Ovi feels like being in the playoffs afterall.
He got a call from Putin - its election year

Wow, that's nuts, and three of the top 8 are in the central

Hopefully this isn't the start of a period of time like in the 80s when the Smythe division was loaded with teams that could win the cup but only one made it out (usually the goddamn Oilers)
The Jets were so excited to move put of the Norris... just in time for the Norris to suck

Interesting article about which teams have best chance of grabbing the wildcard spots or winning their divisions based on the tie-breakers. I had no idea the Jets had the most regulation wins in the league, 8 more than the current HFBoards Jets bogeyman, Dallas.

Fair enough that the family deserves their privacy right now. However not wanting to know is exactly what Bettman and the league want people to think in regards to CTE.
Sorry, I meant the manner of his death. I'd want to know if he had CTE. Is that something the family can have confirmed only if they wish it? Is it part of an autopsy?

Part of me struggles to understand how boxers, NFL players, MMA fighters and hockey enforcers can all of a sudden be surprised that their CHOSEN profession put them at risk for brain damage

Nobody put a gun to Chris Simon's head and told him to go out and fight. He was free to walk away and retire at any point. Instead he chose to engage in bare knuckle boxing on the ice

I'd say that's a more relevant thing to say about a current player than someone who played 25-30 years ago when CTE wasn't really understood well. And often back then, you did have a bit of gun put to your head by coaches and management to be an enforcer if they knew you could be one. I'm sure Chris and lots of other enforcers didn't start playing hockey with some dream of being the best fighter ever.

I think all those fighters knew that they weren't good enough to play in the NHL without fighting. I'm sure it was even explained to them. But they still had the choice

I've seen some interviews with ex enforcers where they basically said they were told you fight or you're not in the line up, so no its not always a choice. It's still done, people were suggesting in here if Logan Stanley or Viel should have been in the line up in case they need to fight Rempe.

Hey don't get me wrong I'm an old school fan who always enjoyed hockey fights but let's not kid ourselves about how much choice low tier players have gotten about their roles in the past.

I'm agreeing with you except for the fact that fighters were always free to say "well, if I don't fight and I'm not in the line up, I'm going to retire"
