He did lose his dad around this time a couple years ago.
Hope he makes a recovery from whatever it is and back to playing.

You wouldn't think it especially for a 20 something millionaire but life is hard, he has had many an injury so pain meds is my first thought. So much excitement when he was drafted, seems like eons ago.

No idea what Laine is dealing with obviously. I always saw him as perhaps a painfully sensitive young man who probably finds the North American hockey world a bewildering place. Maybe it’s just all too much for him.

Laines dad died a bit ago and that probably hit him hard. Hopefully he overcomes the demons whether it be alcohol drugs or ps5.

Ya with all the different pain meds out there its very easy to get addicted, even codine can be very addictive, hope it isn't for Laine's sake.

Classic introvert happy in his own little world not letting too many get close to him. His career has not gone the way he thought it should go. Got to put in the time to be great and I don't think he took that all to seriously. Whatever it is the first step is admitting you have a problem, the second step is to get help, hope it works out for him.

In PL Hollywood news he took an absolutely textbook slashing penalty this afternoon. I don't think I've ever seen a better slash. Exactly how the coaches draw it up in practice. He got a shot on goal in his 13:21 of ice time. Fantastic performance. Sad we traded him.

Watched the Pitts / FLA game the other day and Pitts went 1 for 8 on the PP, and that's a PP with Crosby and Malkin. Pitts is 31st in the league on the PP. How is it possible they are worse than the Jets?

Not to mention a PP with Letang and/or Karlsson.

Will not speculate on Laine on this forum. But I do hope he comes back focused , stronger and healthier when he returns. Glad to see he is seeking help

TSN’s Darren Dreger was the latest hockey insider to reveal what he’s heard. During an “Insider Trading” segment on Thursday, Dreger reported that the Blue Jackets and general manager Jarmo Kekalainen are willing to listen to trade offers on both forward Patrik Laine and defenseman Ivan Provorov.

Here are Dreger’s full words:

Jarmo Kekalainen, the general manager of the Blue Jackets, is willing to listen on a couple of big-name guys like Patrik Laine and Ivan Provorov and there are others. Obviously, Adam Fantilli is untouchable and there are other young players that the Blue Jackets won’t want to move. A number of teams though are also very interested in veteran Boone Jenner but he’s a heart-and-soul guy with a terrific contract so it’s highly unlikely that the Blue Jackets consider moving him. But, again, Jarmo Kekalainen and the Columbus Blue Jackets are listening.
