I mean you aren't. People judge shit from the outside all the time. Yes, Florida politics are a shit show right now, but my day to day experience is wonderful. People are laid back, nice and friendly.Having never met you, I'm not in a position to judge.
Being fully informed about the current political state of things in America, I am more than qualified to judge Florida.
And, in a completely unrelated rant, I'm trapped in my house in Scottsdale where it's currently 42 and is forecast to reach 47 this afternoon.
Decided to put this here instead of the Humor thread...
I was in Phoenix for a conference last month and it was already in the 40s every day. It'll likely stay blazing hot for months (113 days of >100F in 2022). Climate change is not the friend of the US southwest and yet Phoenix is the fastest growing big city in America.Having never met you, I'm not in a position to judge.

Melting...(Also wondering what the heck you are doing in Scottsdale in July...)
We're meeting with our property manager and also looking to sell our house here, probably at a loss. At one time, we'd expected to retire to Scottsdale but we both have medical issues which make living in the US impractical. We've offered the house free to all the kids, two of whom have families, but nobody wants to live in Arizona. (The lass in Vancouver and her husband would move to Seattle in a heartbeat, but not to Scottsdale.)I was in Phoenix for a conference last month and it was already in the 40s every day. As I look out over the lake I am wondering why Manitoba's is considered an inclement climate in comparison. And that's aside from the political climate!

And since my only contribution to this thread is to whine constantly about the heat here, let me close by saying that Phoenix is 'officially' at 43 right now but the wet bulb shade temperature in Scottsdale was showing 45.4 an hour ago. Think we'll take lunch indoors...

You really should visit, it's truly beautiful on several levels. The people, not so much. And the heat and water shortages are just going to get worse.Oh yeah, the heat is wild right now. I haven't had the chance to visit AZ yet, but I hear it's beautiful... I don't know if I could handle the increasingly worsening desert heat though.
My mom moved to Victoria on the inner harbour. She is 80 and walks close to 10 km a day.My parents lived in Az in the winter forever and it’s amazing. They came back to the prairies for the summers which are amazing. Springtime in Kelowna.

Yeah, Victoria would be my choice of retirement location. Something in the Oak Bay area.My mom moved to Victoria on the inner harbour. She is 80 and walks close to 10 km a day.
She has found the fountain of youth. Looks a year younger every time I visit.
Lots of ugly people there, huh?You really should visit, it's truly beautiful on several levels. The people, not so much. And the heat and water shortages are just going to get worse.
If you want my two cents: Come here in winter and drive Hwy 179 north to Sedona. Just amazing. Easily the third most scenic drive in America. If you do it late in the daylight, you'll see the desert and mountains like you've never seen them before.

Avs sign Colton 4x4.
Oof.

Overpayment based on what Colton has done so far and he’s 27 when the season starts so he’s probably already peaked but we’ll see.We have Lowry signed of 3.25 for the next 3. Colton produces more and is a 4 years younger 3C. I don't mind this too much for the Avs.
Beginning of December to the end of April. Cheaper to live (Central/South America). Fresher food. Lots to see. Warmer climes. Cheap booze!I'd love to do something like this once I'm retired, but calculating how much I'll likely have in retirement makes me doubtful.
My fallback plan currently is to look at warm places with a lower cost of living to either snowbird or outright move to.
But I have a few years to go before I can really plan anything
Since this seems to be the thread we're discussing temperatures...
Hitting mid 30s where I am in France today, heading to Paris to fly home to NZ later on. Trading in my summer for six weeks of soggy days at 5-15 degrees. I wish I had been able to travel last year instead when we got over 40, this summer has been a lot more settled in comparison.
Can recommend SW France for those of you looking to retire, lots of cheaper property in the countryside and good access to both the ocean and the Pyrenees, with good transport access to Paris too. You'll need your French but there are also plenty of villages with sizeable anglo populations. The climate and tourism isn't as crazy as the Mediterranean coast either.
