Philly fans boo Santa. I don’t blame Philly fans here. He really is just an entitled prick who kinda screwed them over. Wouldn’t return calls or anything. No explanation given. Death threats are common on the internet. It seems lots of ppl want to be rich n famous but don’t want the criticism that comes with it. In a world where rich ppl molest kids on islands and pieces of shit ppl are looked upon as hero’s why are ppl surprised by death threats online. Fun fact, you don’t need to be on X. You can delete the app.
How did he screw them over? He let them know well before they had their backs to the wall, and in my opinion Drysdale is a more important player going forward if he can stay healthy. He could have waited to walk to the team of his choosing, but he let them know and they got great value back for him.

"Death threats are common" they shouldn't be. That's all. There's nothing else that needs to be said about it. Nobody should be accepting it as a normal or acceptable thing just because it's common. Anybody who does that is scum of the Earth and should be acknowledged as such. Don't accept it, don't legitimize it, don't fault the recipient of it. Saying "well he should get off the platform if he doesn't want death threats" is such a load of shit. Stop faulting the victim, start faulting the lowlifes that think it's okay to say those things. Don't normalize that behavior.

I think people are misinterpreting what he said. He said he's had conversations with the agents but didn't indicate whether he has started negotiating or not on contract extensions.
I feel like if Chevy says he's had conversations with agents he's probably not referring to talks about tropical destinations. Why would he say anything if he wasn't referring to contract discussions?

If he were to sign with a Canadian team, Perry feels like an Edmonton signing to me given that they took on Evander Kane when no one else wanted him and his contract with San Jose was terminated. But Toronto doesn't seem impossible, they can just assign someone to LTIR if they need extra space to hold him.

Also signing a 38 year old winger on a team that desperately needs goaltending feels like an Oilers or a Leafs move based on past behaviour.

I guess if Perry can stop an NHL investigation, he can stop a puck?

Tempting, but I already have way too many jerseys. Also: Brandon.
Just a little further south, and you'll bump into Boissevain. Less urban sprawl and a nice golf course to boot. Massive fibreglass turtle holding both US and Canadian flags. Close to the Turtle mountains. No business taxes. No cover charge at the local watering hole. Night life is better than Lowe Farm or even Halbeschtadt.

This isn't to argue your point on death threats. I agree that it's warped behavior.

I listen to a podcast centered around discussing Liverpool Football Club. Recently one of the hosts, who is fairly well known, was talking about how he receives a torrent of vile messages on a regular basis. Ranging from petty insults to threats on his life. This podcast isn't particularly divisive either, although football supporters can still be ridiculously tribal across the pond. It's generally humorous and insightful conversation about footy and life. So it makes you wonder how someone could listen in and have it prompt a visceral response.

However, he said despite all of what is thrown his way online, he's never had anyone come up to him in person and say things of that nature. He gets compliments and the odd pint sent his way at best, and lighthearted ribbing at worst. It's a fascinating yet troubling insight into how human beings will behave when they are protected by a virtual shield. I support online anonymity, but cyberspace has a way of bringing out strange behavior in people when their identity is hidden.

Sadly, online threats are all too common and par for the course of having an online presence. What can or should be done about it is a debate beyond my pay grade. How much of it should even be taken seriously, is another valid question.

Reading between the Chevy lines (all you really can do), I got the impression that the Jets might wait until everything shakes out at the TDL before deciding on future contracts with Dillon and/or DeMelo. That might be prudent if they are contemplating taking a swing at acquiring a D that they might see as a longer-term option at the TDL.

Indeed. At one point when I was with the province I had an excellent slide collection of photographs of most of Manitoba’s fibreglass mascots. Turtles, camels, bananas, Vikings, mosquitoes, many others as well. Most years I made my summer students take pictures of those mascots, just to see who could be most creative. Great familiarity and love for rural Manitoba and her golf courses, estimating I’ve played most south of 51. I have a special love for Brandon and my comment was more about the drive, but it read better as I presented it.

But Halbeschtdat ain’t no Gretna.

Son in law phoned me at work and asked me if I wanted one as he was in the shop there and they were closing them out.
I said, "No, he's not on the team, he's playing for someone else."
He said, "That's what (my better half) said you'd say."

Am I that transparent!!!!!!!!!!!!

Soccer fans especially in England are nuts, opposition fans have to sit in a certain section with security and cops on either side of them.
Admittedly the heightened tribalism is part of the allure. There really is nothing like an away end going off when a pivotal goal is scored.

One of my favorite examples. Mo Salah sticking the dagger into the Blue Moon shite.

Once violence becomes involved, threats to do harm, or chanting about tragedies etc is when it's no longer fun or defensible.

Actually England is quite tame compared to a lot of the other leagues in Europe. Italy and France especially can be quite extreme.

No drinking in house permitted either. None zero zip zilch
That is the case in all Euro stadiums I understand.

I believe you can buy alcohol in the stadiums but cannot bring it to your seat, at least in England and this was when I went to a Premier League game in 2010. I think the rest of Europe allows drinking throughout.

I think both of our cities are stab happy lol I was in Winnipeg earlier in 2023 and was amazed how much similar it was to Edmonton downtown.

I was in Edmonton this summer and drove from the mall towards downtown to see the new arena and it was exactly like Winnipeg. If you put me on those streets driving down that way and didn't tell me where I was I would assume it was here.
