Am.i really missing something here? Like fans send death threats to players and journalists??? I've never seen anything remotely close in any comments or online... then again I really only read HF

As a society we're generally less sensitive about it when it happens to men, who are also societally conditioned not to 'whine' about it, but by any objective measure, online vitriol and harassment (especially threats of violence) targets them at a statistically comparable rate, which naturally means pro sport athletes and a lot of journalists.

I hate that I live in a society where I'm not shocked to hear what Hayes has said about the harassment he's faced.

Don't know if Hayes had anything to do with Gauthier's perspective on the Flyers, but it reminds me of how he apparently slagged the Jets (according to James Patrick).

I used to hate Torts ... he always seemed like a cliche sports movie villain to me. But over time he has won me over. Watching interviews with him and some behind-the-scenes stuff he seems like a decent but very passionate individual. A very unique character. Good for him calling this nonsense out.
