I thought drysdale was a good pick?
Good but injury prone and Anaheim was dealing from a position of strength. They have Zellweger to fill the small skilled point getting defenseman role. Zellweger, Mintyukov, and Luneau were all defenseman of the year in their respective CHL leagues.

Seems like non-jets fans have been trying to put him on WPG since forever.

There were rumors a few years ago when Risto was still in Buffalo that the Jets were talking to them about him in something involving Ehlers. Not sure how true it was.

Sounds like Philly got rid of their own version of Dubois early...

Speculation on twitter that he is best buds with Kevin Hayes and Hayes poisoned the well for the Flyers with him.

It's all ego after Tavares signed an inflated free agent contract.

I don't really blame the players - I'd probably do the exact same thing.

"I'm better than him - you have to pay me more."

Toronto didn't have the foresight to move the player(s) before it became a problem.

There's got to be ownership interference in Toronto... first Dubas and now big bad Brad just cave...

The Canucks are really entertaining to watch
I view tocchet as a total disaster... appears I was wrong - they are clicking

his stats in recent years are pretty darn close to pasrnak, and panarin. he's on a 120 pt pace this year, i think he gets close to this in UFA. now from the Leafs POV not sure if it's wise.
Just this year though, even last year was his career year and he wasn't worth this contract. So do we really think in 36 games his value has gone up by 3 million. I would trade him for several pieces if I were the Leafs GM. They already have their 2 stars in Matthews and Marner (who are both better), move Nylander for 2-3 depth pieces.

Yup. It's the type of move I wouldn't be opposed to if we could move one of our skilled forward prospects for a similar caliber defensive one.

I'm no Hayes fan but I really doubt an 18/19 year old kid is best buds with Kevin Hayes.

I’m not understanding that contract at all. Seems to be fairly easily $3.0 million a year too much? WTF
Paying for this year's point projection alone and assuming it carries on each of the 8 years of the contract. Banking on a rising cap? The only guy that really showed up and played well in the playoffs for them last year?

I don't get it either, but then I didn't like Draisaitl's deal at the time either. Time will tell.

I actually liked Hayes when he was here, but I've heard enough in the past couple years to get the impression that he might be a real POS.

Last three years of Panarin prior to signing was
74 pts, 82 and 87

Nylander
80, 87, 54 (in 37 gp)

This is from Mike Kelly

I don't disagree that maybe don't sign him however I'd wait until the summer to see how things or other moves shake out to say if this was good or bad.

They aren't trading him in-season while the team is in a PO position, and he's been their best producer.

Both are Boston College Alums

There's also 12 years between the two. Maybe he did say something to Gauthier but I really doubt he was the reason Gauthier doesn't want to play there. Maybe Hayes confirmed what he was already feeling.

The band aid approach hasn't worked for them, pretty sure they won't be trading Nylander so there only option is drafting the best available in the upcoming draft which may take a while to produce if ever or hoping the guy currently backing up Jones, Hildeby pans out. They just seem to have a hard time finding one that works year in year out.
They've gotten good goaltending some of those years with Andersen, Campbell and Samsonov from the looks of it. It's going to be up-and-down between seasons bc that's how it is for most of the league unless you have Helle, Sorokin, Shesterkin, and previous years with Vas or Saros (although both are having down years).

Which goalie would you have suggested o acquire for Nylander that provides long term stability and high level of play? & which team just wants to trade their guy for a fwd? The elite goalies (again there's only a few) don't get traded.
