Did you not see how important goaltending depth is in the playoffs last year. If they trade LB and Helly gets hurt they might as well not show up for the first playoff game because they have nobody else in the organization that would have a chance at winning a playoff game.
And bro showed us first hand he can get the job done.

It's a moot point anyways. No way in hell the Jets trade Brossoit at the tdl unless we somehow fell out of the playoff picture

I know theres not too much love around these parts for Bizz (given his jock fratboy persona), but for those that missed it, this was a nice shoutout to the Jets.

I watched this really apprehensively, because I can't stand Bisonette and I have a grudge with Whitney going back to my Edmonton days in radio (I won't make this post a novel by explaining it), but that was a great 10 minutes of commentary on the Jets. They came in with really strong knowledge of the Jets and arguments that most hockey commentators don't. Most guys come in wth a few stats and guess around the edges.

My opinion of Bisonette has improved, and Whitney too, though, still, f*** you Whitney.

I've really been enjoying the Runway series produced by the Jets. Beautifully shot and produced and had even made me tear up a couple times. I love seeing the humanity of the team and some of the behind the scenes tidbits.

About time media start talking about the Jets, if we were the Leafs or Habs it would be 24/7 talking about us. Very kind words for the players and Chevy.

Nice to hear Scheif get his due. He's been overshadowed by individual players most games while quietly being the most impactful game in game out. As Scheif goes, so goes the team. That's been true for awhile but it's been great to see him leading it somewhere good.

Crazy that Bedard is not in the juniors... you'd think Chicago would want to see who he clicks with since they'll be drafting high again - Bedard in the NHL doesn't really help him or the org right now

Same goes for korchinski... fantilli in Columbus too

None of these guys who have made the NHL as regulars want to go back and play in a junior tournament and disrupt their NHL rookie seasons. They enjoyed their day, but now they are NHLers, not junior players despite their age. In Bedard's case he already has 2 WJC Golds where he dominated. Been there and done that. He also has $3.5 M in in performance bonuses, that may be impacted by missing close to a month of the NHL season. And what the hell does Hawks management say to their fans if Bedard gets injured playing in a junior tournament for Canada?

Fair point - the chances of an injury at juniors is super low though and these guys would miss like 5-6 games - it's not like he's not going to get the Calder cup with way

Bedard wouldn't gain much from playing he needs to play against men.

The biggest reason you don't send him to the WJC, is it is the absolute last thing he wants to do. He is an NHL player now, having a hell of a rookie season. You'd just piss him off big time to send him. He has been their twice, won 2 golds and was dominant. He is now an undisputed NHL player, not a junior player and that is where he wants to play.

Dito

I was surprised at how spot on they were with their analysis.

True - but NHL get loaned to the Juniors - I mean Boston just loaned Poitras and they are in more of a playoff race than Chicago. I think Wright and Cozens went

Obviously you don't force your star player to go but missing six games of Nick Foligno as your winger isn't the end of the world. And yeah he'd dominate but you're sending him to see who you might want to draft to be his winger for the next 10 years...

That’s one reason it’s a surprise Canada still does well at wjc. No other team loses as many of their best players every year to nhl. It’s Canada’s 5th best vs other team’s best. Also, most of the generational players are Canadian. Crosby, mcdavid, bedard.

But Boston is less reliant on Potrias.

No way the Hawks send Bedard to the WJC as a test run for a future winger. And the only undrafted forward on the Canadian lineup is Celebrini and I'm pretty sure the Hawks would draft him if he was available, even without seeing him play with Bedard. Poitrais is also in a very different situation as he has never been to the WJC and he could probably gain from the experience. Last year Bedard had arguably the best WJC performance of all time while winning his second gold. Nothing to gain by disrupting his rookie NHL season.

Cool, good to see the recognition

Yup thanks to Vegas winning the cup with just an average goalie some teams thought they could do the same thing and did not want to pay for an upgrade in the net. Now those teams will over pay at the TDL.
Lol just as I wrote this Oilers score 3 goals on 4 shots to take the lead in the 3rd period on the Devils who were too cheap to upgrade.
Vegas may have had average goaltenders but they got way above average goaltending out of them. They were 2nd only to the Isles (who played just 6 games) in Playoff SV% last year with a .9191.

And it seems like their "average" goal Hill might be actually really good considering he has replicated his amazing results this season.

The Vegas defencemen had more block shots 34 vs Kings tonight while the Vegas goalie stopped 30.

Is it me or do the Oilers seem to play a lot of teams who are on B2B.
