What an absolute dogshit garbage article by this clown shoe geriatric Pat Hickey. Like what is even the point of it?? He mentions the game in a small blip and then goes into a rant about Winnipeg for the rest of it. The whole purpose of the article appears to be so Hickey can tell the Gazette readers his personal feelings about Winnipeg and how he hates it. The good old mosquito and cold tired trash narrative. Just an absolute steaming pile of dogshit. How this even made it into the Gazette is beyond me. They should be embarrassed.
That's a really bad article. He thinks attendance is down because we have no "star players" like...Trouba/Wheeler/Laine/Dubois? None of those are stars, no one misses them, and Hickey hates Winnipeg cause he's a marshmallow: fat and soft.

Edit: No mention of Byfuglien? He must have written this in his head on the way to the office...

Pat who?
Nobody cares Pat who.
Just another person who steals our oxygen :DD

f*** that guy. Imagine how small and insecure you have to be to dunk on another city for literally no reason.

Bob Marjanovich in Vancouver is exactly the same. You figure either someone from Winnipeg stole their lunch money or they hit on a girl in a local bar and got embarrasingly shot down in front of their friends.

I don't care about him bashing Winnipeg. I just can't believe he gets paid to write this. Half the article is personal anecdotes about missing flights to Winnipeg. How does this add anything?

Sigh, I clicked on it too. Alas.

I travel a fair bit for my job now. Mostly I get to see Vancouver, Montreal, Hamilton (lots of southern Ontario) and Thunder Bay. I've been to Calgary, Edmonton, Regina and Saskatoon an awful lot.

I've seen the seedy areas of each of those places and you know what? They're all fairly comparable. They're also a lot like Winnipeg. If you're affluent enough to avoid the seedy areas, then you're actually in really, really good shape. Most Canadians are very decent people, and I include all nationalities of origin in that comment because sadly in these days of division it needs to be stated plainly thanks to the politics of the day (division for you and you and you).

Can I pick on each of the cities I listed? Without hesitation, without problem. I only do so when I encounter someone that speaks ill of my city without acknowledging their own issues. Ignorance.

Clickbait is a huge problem, that's all that was. The Gazette should be embarrassed they let it run. Hickey should be embarrassed that's what he considers as journalism. But hey, it generates clicks, ergo income. The state of the modern media - uncritical, unthinking. Zero respect.

Unfortunately you can't fix stupid. One thing i will say is coming from someone who golfs almost everyday in the summer, i have the same can of mosquito spray for 5 years in my golf bag . Our winters are getting warmer and our summers are brilliant. Oh and our hockey team is way better and we are going to make a mess of Montreal in Montreal when we play them.

Not that I am advocating we trade him but I wonder what LB would fetch in a trade. With so many teams desperate for good goaltending, I am wondering if LB fetches a 1st considering his good numbers so far, his size and Stanley Cup pedigree.

Had those sams thoughts lately. I think you should really think about this. I could see us getting offers that are too good to Turn down come TDL with multiple playoff teams in panic mode like Leafs, Oilers, Devils, Canes.

And we are cheap too:sarcasm:

Not the first a hole to put down the city wont be the last. Don't really care about his or anyone else's opinion
Agree

Why anyone cares whatsoever what politicians, biased reporters or celebrities think is beyond me.

They are irrelevant and you should never let the likes of Taylor swift, Hilary Clinton, whomever this reporter is affect you.

YOUR opinion should be all that you remotely care about on literally every topic / situation in the world.

All those previously mentioned have an agenda to push. Not truth, not fact, but their agenda/narrative.

When you stop caring completely about what others think and stay true to your beliefs - life gets much calmer and easier.

Merry Christmas everyone!!!

It’s a great place to be.
The Central Division is extremely competitive.
Many teams are playing well and we happen to match up well with many of them.
This team has to take it one step at a time and not get caught up in what others are doing.
I’m cautiously hopeful that we don’t collapse like last year, only because I believe this team believes in each other.
I appreciate your belief and positivity, I agree we seem to be playing in a fashion that can consistently run with the big fish.
However I am scarred from previous years especially last year. I will hold reserve judgement until mid February.
With no cancers like PoMo, Wheeler, and Dubois there is definitely a different vibe for this group.
I am cautiously optimistic.

The Sens have nothing on the Sabers who are working on year 13 of missing the playoffs, having 2 - 1st OA picks and 2 - 2nd OA picks and multiple very high 1st round picks along the way.
And you look at their lineup and it's littered with elite talent.

They should have opened the vault for Hellebuyck. It wouldn't have solved all their problems but he could give them that extra save or two they're missing right now

Going to be a fight to the end of the year it seems.
As much as it's a fun way to pass the season - cheering for first, it means less than the real goal of using the regular season to get your shit together.

I'll be quite happy if the Jets continue to solidify their identity, get their special teams together, stay healthy and end up in one of the 3 Central spots.

Yes, the extra gate or two and home ice advantage is nice, but we're a great road team and home ice hasn't really seemed to help us in the past.

I wish to god they'd just go back to conference seeding come playoff time.

I would say that Helle between the pipes in Buffalo gives them a better fighting chance of make the playoffs generating excitement and getting more people to come out. Make the playoffs and you never know and going a few rounds would bring in some serious revenue. Good luck going anywhere with the goaltending they have atm and looking back it's a good thing nobody wanted to pay Helle's ticket.

So many teams will be out of it by trade deadline. Lots of goalies will be available.

I think the Jets organization has to balence the future vs current especially in regards to fans.in the stands. .

a first in exchange for a backup goalie is a good trade off. How many games with broswat actually play towards the end of the season?

Did you not see how important goaltending depth is in the playoffs last year. If they trade LB and Helly gets hurt they might as well not show up for the first playoff game because they have nobody else in the organization that would have a chance at winning a playoff game.

They are not getting goaltending but their deployment has been awful... Greenway overplayed, Krebs underplayed etc

Run and gun doesn't work in the east and they don't have the talent to cycle four lines

Skinner seems like a Wheeler type leader in that room - good guy but probably toxic for the long term

Mittelstadt-Thompson-Tuch
Skinner-Cozens-peterka
Benson-Krebs-quinn
Greenway-okposo-olofsson

I'd be surprised if Chevy does t get a high second round pick just for bross rights after the season

I know theres not too much love around these parts for Bizz (given his jock fratboy personality), but for those that missed it, this was a nice shoutout/nod of acknowledgement to the Jets.
