The Avs got a week off last season after sweeping St. Louis and played against Vegas who battled Minnesota to game 7. Colorado stomped them 7-1 in G1. Just because Tampa was rusty, doesn't mean Colorado would be. If anything, rest would be good because from what I gathered Kadri could maybe return to finals even if he's out for this round.

Doesn't sound like it.

I put "rust" in paranthesis for a reason: it was the BS reasoning for Game 1 against the Bolts, and some were still trying to use it for Game 2, along with Point not being in the line-up, and one jackass saying MSG is too dark.

Av's depth is getting tested big time. They are still almost certainly going to the SCF, so now game 3 for the Rangers just got bigger. The only team that benefits from 2 quick eliminations is the healthier, series leading Rangers.

A win tomorrow just went from big to massive.

Whatever's going on with Tampa....keep in mind that their best center and arguably best all around forward Point is out and even if he does come back before the series ends he probably won't be close to 100%. The other thing differentiating them from a team like Colorado is Tampa has played a lot more playoff hockey the last two years than the Avalanche. Tampa has had the shortest summer and Tampa is not exactly the youngest team. Not being exactly able to roll out 4 lines either when they're playing 11F and 7D. They really don't have the depth of other teams either. If another forwards goes down they're looking at Riley Nash or Alex Barre-Boulet. These were guys who spent almost the entire year in the AHL. Nash has been around for a while with a lot of NHL experience but he's definitely on the downside of his career and Barre-Boulet is on the smaller side, not someone tailor made for the 4th line to grind games out.

Watched the game And Colorado didn't look top intimidating. Edmonton was just bad and Smith in goal looked like he had a stroke and was drunk at the same time. Francouz looked pretty bad too, Edmonton just couldn't do anything about it.

If we advance, the Avs even with injuries would be an insane test. They are SOOOO fast. Enter the zone on the PP with ease. Canes but with talent on offense. No Kadri and backup goalie and we would still be a heavy underdog.

I don’t know. I don’t think Colorado is nearly as defensively sound as Carolina, but the aggressive nature of their forecheck is as good if not better. And like you said, elite talent with finishing ability unlike Carolina. They have also had a pretty easy road to the Cup. St. Louis was a formidable matchup until Binnington went down. Then it was cake. They also really haven’t faced Shesterkin before (note: they have but it was 2 years ago - Avs lost). I think Avs vs Rangers would be a coin flip. The Avs have not been properly tested. Hopefully we can take care of Tampa first so we can challenge the big, bad Avs.

Love that Kadri is out for the AVS. He is one of the dirtiest players in the league. I would never wish someone hurt, but for him I'll make an exception.

It also benefits us when we face them in the Finals. There is just no place in hockey for his careless style of play. And yes, we are headed to the Finals, and I don't want to hear I am getting ahead of myself. I have listed my reasons over and over again ever since I predicted this, when playing the Canes..

But to quickly recap, I said if we get past the Canes, because there was some question about that, we would be heading to the Finals. Basically because Tampa is a mismatch. They can't keep up this us. Too slow. And that was clearly evident in the first two games. And with home ice, that kinda cements our victory over them. And if you still have doubts after game 3, the record of teams in the conference finals, that started the series with a 2-0 lead is 91-7.

But I am here to talk about Colorado. We all know about Makar and MacKinnon. Landeskog and Rantanen. But I believe they are a very deep team due to the emergence of Valeri Nichushkin. The former first rounder, 10th overall, has come into his own this year. The imposing forward has size and strength that is tough to deal with. He also has great hands. He was always highly touted, but never really reached his potential until this year. He is now relied upon with big minutes, 20+ in these playoffs, and 19+ during the regular season. Prior to this year, he never averaged 15 minutes a game. And with the extended ice time, he has had his best year to date. 52 points in 62 games.

He is a big beast, who has some skills. and the Rangers will have problems dealing with him.

We faced Colorado twice this year and lost both games. We had difficulty with their speed and tenacity. But that was before the TDL, and now we are faster with Vatrano and Motte. We had trouble with the Canes speed during the regular season and was able to overcome,... so we might have a fighting chance. But it is always tough to play in the Mile High City regardless of how strong the Avs are this year.

Late to the party here but it’s hilarious that the NBA gets multiple days in between games while the NHL has a day between each.
