It's an embarrasment to the NHL. 5000 seats? Half will be full if they're lucky. Horrible mismanagment.
Bettman is a miserable old dog with a bone. His ego won't allow him to admit this mistake in the desert. Coyotes have struggled in attendance and lost money as long as they've been there.
There are much better, more viable options.
I guess the board of governors can't influence him, but somebody should.
Totally pathetic.
What options? Quebec City? Who from the Eastern Conference gets moved west then?

Given the subsidies the other teams are paying to keep Arizona afloat, I'd be hard pressed to believe the owners are clamoring to keep it.

It’s actually the opposite. I can’t go in to deep as I’m on my phone. But middle of the pack teams benefit from someone pulling the numbers way down. As it lowers the cap for a bunch of teams that would run just around break even. If anything Arizona is subsidizing other teams profits.

Houston would be the logical choice if they wanted to relocate Arizona and keep them in the west. Kansas City too if they wanted to call that west and give that city another go. Both have fairly modern facilities IIRC

I've always thought of this as the major roadblock. Detroit and Columbus would fit fine in the Central, but the west coast trips are more travel than going east. The only way to keep it balanced like now would have been to move Arizona to Seattle and nix expansion. The other option would be to change the schedule to 2 games outside of your division period (not just the conference) for 48 games and change divisional games to 5 games vs 6 teams and 4 vs. 1. This would make travel a bit better. Personally I would reduce the schedule to 76 games and do 2 out of division and 4 within.

I don't think the league/owners or players would sign off on any of those ideas, however, and will just stick with the status quo. I don't think it's worth it for them to go through all that just to move a franchise outside of moving them really close to where they are.

I mean I feel for them but I don't, a lot of those are very old, they've had time to prepare
Subban went out Jan 11th
Lukkonen also Jan 11th
Tokarski end of November
Anderson end of October

Houser is new and Dell is an idiot but who has been starting their AHL games in the meantime, how can they not find a very strong PTO/signee a stone's throw from Toronto?

From what I recall yes. KC's was NHL ready a number of years ago, I think they may have even been briefly in the discussion of where to relocate Atlanta before Winnipeg really gained steam.

Could be fund watching an NHL game in a 5,000 seat venue. May have to take a trip to Arizona .

I assume the echo isn't as profound when there's only 4,800 empty seats.

Oilers have ntot used all their LTIR and if Koskinen is going the other way it can still happen. Most interesting thing to me is that Washington was the second team in on him and not Tampa/Florida.

When it comes to Florida, I can't imagine Joe Thornton is giving a positive review about adding Kane.

Alex Newhook scores his 10th goal in 33 games since being called up from the AHL. He is a solid offensive player on the best team in the NHL at age 20.

Also, I wonder if the Kings may have issues getting out of Philly tomorrow. They are expecting up to a foot of snow and the Kings are supposed to play Sunday afternoon in Pittsburgh. The Isles game was already cancelled.
