Perhaps part of the deal was we retain 50% cap if they extend him? Which, if so, is just a dumb move on Blake's part.
That's not possible, its a capfriendly error

Funny if they don't even sellout those games....i'm thinking there's a good chance they will not
just move them to Houston or Quebec already.
League needs to review the territorial claims for teams. Not having a second team in the Toronto area is a huge revenue loss for the league and may actually let Toronto area fans see a Stanley Cup parade at some point.
The Coyotes really don't have any other options, if they aren't going to play in Glendale. Veterans Memorial Coliseum is a dump in a bad part of town, and would likely require significant amounts of money for the ice making equipment.
The Honda Center hosted the UFC last week. The Ducks also hosted Daniel Cormier at a practice and its pretty epic if you haven't seen it.
Pathetic, pathetic joke. At this point I’m convinced the league would allow them to play in a parking lot in a public park.
Quite a few NHL execs should lose their jobs for passing on him.

I assume you're correct. I wonder if you can retain cap on an extension as part of a trade.
Aren't all situations temporary?
Like, the Kings won't be playing in Crypto.com arena until the end of civilization.
And they have to raise ticket prices 4x the normal amount to compensate.they still wont even sell out that arena lol

It's an embarrasment to the NHL. 5000 seats? Half will be full if they're lucky. Horrible mismanagment.
Bettman is a miserable old dog with a bone. His ego won't allow him to admit this mistake in the desert. Coyotes have struggled in attendance and lost money as long as they've been there.
There are much better, more viable options.
I guess the board of governors can't influence him, but somebody should.
Totally pathetic.
So $4 a ticket now?
I'm certainly not looking to defend Bettman here, but how do we know it's Bettman's ego and not that of the owners themselves? End of the day he takes orders from them, if they wanted to pull the plug they could. Bettman may be advising them to keep the Yotes there, but it's their decision at the end. There's something about that market that has people with influence wanting to stay at all costs.
