I hope every Michigan ends with a teammate taking a beating for him until he learns why previous generations wouldn't dare to try that in a game even though they had the skill to do so.
Strongly disagree with this point of view. The puck is in the net, you've done your job. If picking up the puck and putting it in high gives you a better chance at scoring than a standard wrap around players should attempt to do so. Just like players picking corners or deking on breakaways.

It's not the player's fault the media acts like it's some 360 backflip eyes closed dunk while t-bagging a special needs kid.

I'm not sure if I'm misunderstanding - but are you against Michigan type goals in general? Or just against displaying high skill but remarking on the consequences?

Because I have no problem with teams using the Michigan, even though I'd hate it if it was done against the Kings. I just think Zegras is looking a bit whiny here. If he recognized the context of why the Coyotes were pissed, and started throwing some hands instead of calling for punishment, I'd have no problem with anything Zegras did.
I am against having my goalie clowned and in favor of consequences for showboating.

The Michigan shouldn't even be allowed anyways, it's a dangerous play. Lifting your stick with force at head height for a goalie is risky, if those become commonplace it's only a matter of time before a goalie takes one in the chin/neck area. It's not a follow-through of a normal shooting motion and the stick gets above the opponent's shoulders. Hell, guys get high sticking calls all the time lifting sticks and smacking a guy hunched over skating, and that's below crossbar level too.

Lets ban the Toe-Drag while we are at it lol. It's embarrassing for defenders and they might hurt themselves from falling over their skates.

I mean seriously, the simple, and very common act of lifting your opponents stick, is way more likely to cause an injury. Acting like everybody is going to start doing this move, and that it is ruining the game, is HYPERBOLE.

Lolol exactly, but par for the course from the posters that like to yell at clouds.

No more cross ice passes! They make our knuckle dragging defenders spin like ballerina’s!!!

Ducks getting their shit pushed in again. Kings haven’t been getting any kind of help out of town for a while it seems now. Got to keep winning.

On a different note, Gibson seems like a shitty athlete. His body language after three goals in the first is just uncaring. Can’t have goalies showing that kind of attitude.
It might be time for you to admit to yourself that you just hate goalies, no matter who they are or who they play for. 🤣

To be fair I feel like Sol has a point with our goalies being incredibly inconsistent.

Good thing I've got a tight five hole; I'm confident in my abilities in taking Peterson's job 100%.

I didn't say anything about ruining the game, it's pretty dangerous, that's all. It's the same reason that kicking the puck in isn't allowed, they don't want skate blades potentially going up into a goalie's face. Right now the league says it's legal, so players are free to do it. But what happens when a goalie is coming across right as a player is trying to jam their stick under the crossbar and they get hit in the head? I really couldn't care less about the showboating aspect of it, if players take exception to it they'll sort it out themselves. It just seems like lifting sticks up to a goalie's head level in close proximity isn't a great idea. With all the focus on brains and concussions now you'd think there would be a discussion about it.

Got to give Dallas credit, they seamlessly went from Seguin, Radulov and Benn's team to Hintz and Richardson's team and are still fighting for a playoff spot.

I wonder if the Kings would have taken local kid Richardson had he not been taken 2 spots earlier in the 2017 draft.
Do you mean Jason Robertson?

I like to consider myself a sports purist. But I am open to new rules etc. I've been watching the NHL for 30 years, I don't see the issue with the Michigan goal. It's a high skill offensive play, if a player doesn't like it, then use a high skill defensive play to stop it.

Like the high skilled chosscheck as he's coming around the net. Also, I think if you make contact with the goalie, mask area or shoulder, it's a penalty.

Keep doing the Michigan. And keep running up the score. f*** your shitty team. You want mercy, go back to the pond.

Sure, but then we need the other side of that equation too. Come running at me, and I punch you, don't cry(or have someone, or multiple people, cry on your behalf) about not dropping your gloves. You weren't defenseless when you came at me. You want mercy in a grown man's league, then go back to pee-wee and play and fight against the kids your own age.

Amen. That's the stupid thing. This conversation isn't about the Michigan at all--that's just dumbass Tyson Nash derailing the train. The conversation is about what's essentially a routine scrum, Terry getting the shit kicked out of him for charging a dude like he was going to fight because Zegras acted dead on a lame crosscheck, and TZ crying to the media about it. Need some leadership to slap some sense into those idiots. Where's Getzlaf?

It's definitely more about being offended by what Nash said. Then again, Nash has always been dumb. Those tight suits constrict blood flow to the brain. However, it's also about people in the media talking about how Beagle should've held up. They look at the end result, and not what preceded it. They don't even think about Terry going at Beagle. Or they dismiss it. Oh, he's not a fighter, he's a skill guy, stop punching him. Ok, then wtf is Terry doing getting involved? Terry doesn't get a free shot at Beagle because he took one on Zegras. When has it ever worked that way?

If we want a soft league, that's fine. But if you're going to throw yourself into the mix, be ready to defend yourself, no matter how many goals you can score.

Somehow, the Kings are probably going to go .500 against these non-playoff teams they face down the stretch.

Well, it all evens out in the end I guess.

Things will get interesting later in the week, both Nashville and Edmonton’s schedules get pretty brutal for a stretch so we will see who is up to the task.

Dallas doesn’t have it particularly easy either, with games against TOR, TBL, MIN, EDM, CAL, and VGK. Vegas play CAL, EDM, WSH, DAL and StL, but the rest of their schedule is soft. We have a challenging stretch coming up, but we end with 6 of 7 vs. non-playoff teams.

And there it is. I think that's the correct answer to the problem. I don't believe making contact with the goalie is going to cause injury, cuz I don't believe the stick is moving fast enough to cause an injury. Unless it manages to get up underneath the mask. Which is why you make it a penalty to make contact with the goalie in the head area at all.

Wanna stop Michigan style goals? Put them on their ass when they go behind the net. I do agree, though, if you're doing that crap when you're blowing someone out, you're asking for a fight.

Zegras Michigan goal was in the first period, Terry got his face smashed in in the 3rd. The two are not related to me.
I think Beaglewas frustrated and lost his shit, and I agree with Zegras here. Bieksa had a good take on it during HNIC, talking about how Beagle needs to recognize who he is fighting there and let up.

People going after Nash I do not think is completely fair either, as he said what he said in the heat of the moment. No way of knowing how far Beagle was taking it. More heat should be on Beagle here iMO

Bieksa said that? That's rich coming from him: he wasn't ever going to let up on a weaker opponent.

Nash is an idiot and the beatdown had nothing to do with the Zegras goal. It has everything to do with hacking at the goalie while winning 5-0 with a little over five minutes left in the 3rd period. That demands a response and one was given with the cross check. Terry jumped in, pulled on Superman's cape and got lit up.

I believe it was the noted intellectual Denis Gauthier that said "You got to know who you're out on the ice with" in response to his five game suspension for hitting Josh Gorges. Beagle can fight. He's pissed about the hack on the goalie and he's pissed about losing 5-0. Terry waded in like there wouldn't be a response, wound up in a fight and apparently didn't know he was in one until he was laying on the ice.

This is really all on Zegras and it isn't because of the Michigan goal. Don't hack at the goalie up 5-0. The comments he made after the game were pathetic as well. "Please do something, League. Wahh".

It is most definitely about the Michigan goal. For everyone saying Beagle needs to recognize it was Terry, well those folks also need to know that Zegras should recognize who he was playing, what those players have dealt with all year and what they are facing going forward. Arizona has NOTHING but pride to play for. That twerp pulls out the fancy shit then goes after a loose puck in the crease in a blowout - any player with any sense of respect for the game knows that they were just given the chance to take out their frustration on the diva that had shown them up earlier.
