Detroit loses 7-5 to Edmonton. Probably a game where they wish they’d had Bertuzzi in the holster.

So going into Saturday's game with Vegas.

Best case scenario = The Kings are 8 points up on Vegas and can basically KO Vegas from having a realistic chance of catching the Kings by going up 10 points.

Worst case scenario = Vegas is 4 points back of the Kings and can win to get within 2 points.

Will be interesting to see the discussions in here on Saturday if either situation comes to be.

With all the injuries and how we play against the Sharks and against the west and the play of our 1st line as of late.... I'd go with worst case scenario. Hoping for a miracle on Thursday and a vegas no show on Saturday.

I wouldn't call 2019 strong, let alone very strong. I view 2019 as a pretty crappy draft. I mean outside of Seider, Zegras, Boldy, and Caufield, who is really good?

Hughes - disappointing
Kakko - really disappointing
Dach - disappointing
Byram - hurt, who knows his future
Turcotte - IR regular, disappointing2
Broberg - bleh
Podkolzin - meh
Soderstrom - meh
Knight - meh so far
York - Just OK
Newhook - He's OK, probably 2nd tier for this draft.
Krebs - decent, but nothing crazy good
Harley - Solid, but nothing great
You can go down the list with more of the same.

Bjornfot looks OK, right about his draft position. Same with Tomasino, I like him too. But they aren't anything really special. Kaliyev and Hoglander are the only two outside the first round that are worth a damn, really. Right now, there is exactly one player from that group with a fantastic all-around game and that's Seider.

2018 was the last strong draft, Better top end, far more late rounders playing lots of games, and way deeper. Everything recent has been average at best. I think 2020 is already better with Stutzle, Raymond, Drysdale, Lundell, and Mercer. We will have to see how the later rounds play out with that one.
Hughes disappointing ?

He is on pace for close to 40 goals and 90 points if he was healthy.

Will probably end up with 30 goals now.

I actually can't believe Hertl is close to re-signing in San Jose. I know players don't read into prospects or cap space or anything of the stuff we care about, but what about the Sharks of the last few years gives him any hope they'll be competitive while he's still in his prime?

The teams that are real contenders, are stocking up. The Kings aren't going make a move. They will be content with how this season plays out, and try and make a splash in FA.

That 8th year you can give your own guy, that's big for players. Teams just can't help themselves. This also means they won't deal Meier, forgoing any future value there. They'll waste time with him, and then give him another bad contract as well.

We blame the Kings for poor planning, and expect them to be some kind of exception, but talent is too rare. When you get it, you want to keep it. If the player is cool with sticking around, he's going to get his big contract. Every time. Not one team will do things differently in the same situation.

The 2019 draft is going to be tough for this squad with what they missed out on. Been saying it for a couple of years, we had a Maserati pick and will end up with a Camry player. Camrys are serviceable cars, it’s not taking a Jalopy like Tuebert or Hickey but still, it’s looking like a very strong draft.

You have to think it could be coming here real soon. They are about to go 0-5 on a road trip they played 4 pretty bad teams. And now they have to come home and play Florida. They really better hope we lose later tonight.

Turcotte was drafted right where he should've been. Very few had Zegras above him or the better prospect and I don't recall many saying that's who we should've taken. It was always Turc, Duch, or Byram. Nobody could've predicted whats happened so far, even the so called experts on this message board. All I see is prospect envy because the guy down the road, who was drafted after our guy is playing well, while ours is injured and has not made it to the nhl. 3 of the top 4 guys we drafted in 2019 are playing right now, 2 are regulars. That's pretty damn good. Turcottes time will come, he's only 21 .

He’s a third line center. Yannetti himself said that some of the scouts discussed Zegras.

The Kings have a type. Character and intangible with some skill is what they go for over maybe a guy like Zegras/Stutzle.

Will it payoff in wins in the long run. We will see.

No teams knew what Zegras was going to be...otherwise, he probably would have went #1.

Dont think LA would have drafted Turcotte if they (and any other team) would have known this.

Lets be honest
