Or he's moved at the trade deadline where one playoff team will lose their collective mind and give up everything to get him.
but then you will get a late first and who knows what kind of prospect.
Now, if there is a prospect they are chasing it would buy time.

Not saying I do not agree or disagree with you, just what local media are saying

Coyotes have $23,056,624 in cap space. Papa Tkachuk played in Arizona before he went to St. Louis and Matthew was born in Scottsdale. Having a 24-year-old. 100-point captain for the young kids would be pretty enticing for new ownership looking to find an arena.

Hopefully Matthew goes to Ottawa or something though. They've got $11 million in cap space and one of the best prospect pools in the league, and then we don't have to see much of that rat f***.

Johnny took less money to play in Columbus. Anything is possible here.

Agreed -- Quick is a slam dunk HOF (imo) with two SCups, all those wins and his int'l work.
But yes, at the same time, he's massively underrated/appreciated outside of LA.
Quick being a slam dunk HOF'er is a nice sentiment, and I hope it is true. I don't see him often discussed in the same way as Price and Lundqvist are by the talking heads and other media.

No doubt he is the greatest and most clutch American-born goalie in the history of the game for my money.

THe problem isn't Quick, it's the market.

If Quick is NYR or MTL he's already in the HOF and they're writing songs about him right now.

Carey Price is just Jonathan Quick lite but in the right market.

Lundqvist is the standard bearer for consistency for that generation, he deserves his accolades, but with an asterisk for Quick outplaying him :naughty:

I think if Quick can get those 32 wins and stack on a few extra, he can make a good case to get in, especially with Luongo getting in.

Just a guess, but I see Quick playing at leat one more season [ maybe another if his health is good] after his contract is up. He can get at least 40 wins over that span, if not more. 400 wins is not out of reach.

What‘s the argument for Rogie being in the HOF but Quick not being in? Other than the fact that Rogie played for the beloved Habs.
Won the gold for Canada in the 70s and I think he was MVP in that tournament. He has a Vezina. Guy was just overshadowed by Dryden and then spent the rest of his prime in LA. But it took him a really long time to get in with near relentless campaigning by the Kings org.

Yeah, i hear ya. But gm's arent the smartest group during the trade deadline. Hadn't heard anything about it from the local media until just now, so if it's broken with the Flames, then move him asap.

Justin Williams says hi.
And Willie Mitchell.

You couldn't set a skate inside Quick's crease without getting a new bruise.

I think the only conceivable argument against Quick would be from those who hadn't seen him play and base their opinion on numbers.

So, like 90% of fans and broadcasters.

Kopitar, Doughty and Quick are no-brainer HoFers.

I think Quick should be in but he doesn't have the individual trophies--aside from the Smythe--or a real string of dominant regular seasons.

As for the Smythe, other goalies to win during my lifetime include Hextall, Vernon, Ward, Giguere and Thomas so it isn't exactly a murderers row of HHOF goalies.

He's basically his hero Mike Richter except trade out the second Cup for Richter's '96 World Cup. Richter isn't in the HHOF. Similar career arc as well where the Rangers were very relevant for about four seasons and then he never played in another playoff game the last six years of his career. Richter gout out of the first round three times: same with Quick.

If he gets in, it will be due to sheer volume as an American goaltender if he winds up passing Miller for career wins for a US-born goaltender. Already has the shutout number. Miller has the Vezina and Olympic MVP in a losing effort all in the same year...pretty much dined out on that the rest of his career. If Quick wins the Vezina in 2012 like he should have, it's a slam dunk when coupled with the Cup/Smythe that same season.

Man - Calgary is really going down in 'Flames'. And we all thought Vegas was bad. Sucks to lose players that are that impactful.

Eh, I'm still not sure I completely buy the rumor Tkachuk wants out. I'm sure there's a kernel of truth to it, but probably overstated.

Back in Lombardi's early years here, I regularly attended Kings' development camp. I wish I remembered the player's name, but there was a very brief rumor circling the message boards that the Kings were interested in a particular player.

The source? Some 12 year-old kid trying to eavesdrop through the curtains at camp who thought he heard a name.

Now, it didn't span quite as large as being broadcast on the air, but all it takes is someone to think they heard something, and then it morphs into speculation. Then it gets people asking others "is this true?"

I'm sure Sutter isn't the easiest coach to play for. And I'm sure Tkachuk thinks "damn. It sucks Gaudreau left." Who wouldn't? I don't think that's a reach. I'm just not sure that's enough where he will want to uproot his entire life and family to move to another team.

It will be interesting to see what Calgary does moving forward nonetheless. It always hurts to lose one of your better players for nothing - but, as we saw with the Isles and Tavares, it can be done.

I agree with you on this point, and it is why I am somewhat concerned Quick won't get the HOF credit he deserves, and will end up as an LA King cult hero.
