Depends on how it is presented. If everyone knows he’s gone a deal is more palatable. Real problem is that they didn’t seem to think it was a major possibility.

Now they have the exact same situation with MK who likely goes home to St. Louis.

When are you thinking they should've traded him?

Last off season, deadline if needed.

Kypreos says he doesn’t blame JG for not saying anything. Says it is easier than playing with it over your head and that teams are always shitty to players so turn about is fair play.

The fans are the ones it hurts the most tho.

Remember how many were pissed at Blake for turning down a trade and then leaving as a free agent. Players earn it in their contracts but it’s a set back not getting anything for said player.

Congrats to Campbell - 5yr/$5M AAV.

Leafs are gonna regret trading for Murray. If he doesn’t make a miraculous turnaround, they might not even make the playoffs.

This is the same conversation we've had with the Kings since 2015. They already had Markstrom, added Coleman last summer, they weren't traded Gaudreau. They weren't thinking about rebuilding. Most teams don't want to flat out suck for years. It's really only when players force it upon you that you do so, and now this could be an example. However, the Islanders didn't rebuild after losing Tavares for nothing, so who knows what Calgary does.

And at the deadline? They finished 6th overall. They had 3, basically 4, 40 goal scorers. They had 2 guys hit 100pts, and another pt/game guy. They had a Vezina finalist. There's not a single GM in the league, or in sports, who trades his leading guy if you're in that situation.

I don’t want to argue any more man. We obviously won’t agree. Interesting to see how they handle the exact same situation with MK.

Might be petty enough to bump an old main board thread where one poster was certain that Max Domi was going to fetch a ton at the deadline and was only slightly overpaid (5.3 mil cap hit, 6 mil salary). Poster called me "weird" for disagreeing with him.
