Can the Kings technically sign all their Rfa's , go over the cap at the moment and deal in the summer to get under the cap by Opening night?
Yes, you can be 10% over the cap during the summer. If they were unable to clear before opening night it would either mean there's an IR situation we don't know about or we'd have to waive anyone whose cap hit could be buried in the AHL (leaving them open to a claim).

I'd be shocked if Kane signed for that, especially the #'s he put up in both the regular season and playoffs.

He;s dreaming if he thinks he's getting a 40-50 mil deal as has been reported. Nobody's going over 3-4 years, even Arizona won't do it. he's just too risky of a guy to lock up long term.

Poor Kale Clague doesn’t even get a qualifying offer.
Wasn’t he made an example of how bad the Kings mismanage their prospects and how he’s not given any minutes or roster spot to show how good he is? Imagine that….can’t stay on the roster of the worst team in the league.

While a few of us were clearly wrong about him as a player, the symptoms continue with literally every other prospect, so...

I kept saying for years how outmatched Clague looked physically and appeared to be completely lost defensively in every preseason game he appeared in. He just doesn't display any semblance of being a regular NHL defenseman. Don't know what others ever saw in him other than a somewhat productive AHL defenseman, but even in the minors he was terrible in his own end.

For me it was that big hit he made in the neutral zone that changed the whole momentum of the game. I thought he deserved a shot after that. He also looked pretty smooth in the offensive zone. Wasnt too sad he was waived but its not just about him its really about all of their prospects. The top six is now loaded with guys in their late 20s mostly that they didnt even draft. If Moore signs long term its pretty bleak for anyone to break in.
Also have to understand where a guy like Moore was in development at Byfields age before we jump at calling these kids busts.

Who plays more NhL games next year? UFA Clague or waiver ineligible Bjornfot?
Bjornfot

I was a poster did not understand waiving him while LHD was such a weakness.

My biggest issue was waiving him, but you're right that he hasn't been that good.

To me, the waiving of Hickey stung a lot more because of where he was drafted and who they opted to retain ahead of him: Davis Drewiske. They even acquired Keaton Ellerby afterwards because they were scraping for a defenseman.

Clague on the other hand just didn't really stand out like others who were brought up did. Moverare showed more in his limited time here.

Wow. Nichushkin has had 1 good season, and 1 good playoff, and he gets a monster deal. For what before this year was a chronic underacheiver. He managed to get 0g in 57 games one time.

Colorado about to make some Dean Lombardi mistakes on handing out big loyalty champ contracts

Holy crap what is Toronto doing? Instead of giving Campbell 5mil ish per season they’re gonna trade for 4.5mil of Matt Murray? Dubas is trash

Glad we signed Kempe before the Valeri Nichushkin signing :P Kempe is younger, played less games, but has outscored Nichushkin and his 35 goals last year blows Valeri out of the water...

There's Colorado's gaborik contract, like Paul for TBL.

Both teams are officially on the other side of their windows.

Feel like Colorado has this year, and that's it, gotta extend Mackinnon ($10M+), Byram isn't gonna be cheap if he builds on his season and Lehkonen needs a deal, while he isn't gonna be terribly expensive, he won't be cheap either.

That Leafs/Murray trade is completely baffling, Dubas' job is on the line and he decided to trade for a guy with negative value and make him his starting goaltender, unbelievable
