The crazy part is a GM making a trade for a pick 7 years from now. Way to help the next guy look good, cause that pick has zero value to you.

That's the funny thing about the NBA, nobody every really complains about trading away 1st, especially that many. It looks crazy in the headlines, but that's where it will end. Most of those picks will be traded away at some point.

Ryan McDonagh traded to Nashville for nothing.

Even if you're a quality player, you can have no value if you have an expensive contract.

Leafs will probably find out something similar soon with Muzzin. He might still be a decent player, but has little value because teams don't want to spend 5.6M on him.

He also had a full no-trade clause. He waived to go to Nashville, so Tampa had significantly less leverage.

Muzzin also has an NTC that modifies to a 10-team trade list next year.

Shorter contract but still is more problematic than media and lots of leafs fans want to admit with respect to trade value.

Hey, TB's first option wasn't to trade Sergachev to alleviate any cap issues. Crazy.

Hey, David Poile strikes again. You mean most GMs just want to be in the mix, and hope their team might strike gold? Crazy.

Hey, the cap comes calling for everyone eventually. Even TB. Just one more move that makes them not quite what they used to be.

Leafs fans would be 1st no matter where they are in the standings, so not sure recency bias has too much to do with it. Maybe they're the outlier, but, still.

The Kings are just irrelevant. Even if they're good. The Kings just don't have that kind of fan base. Look at the local media coverage as an example. Nobody cares. Staples, Crypto, whatever, is usually fairly quiet. Other than Ducks fans, maybe a SJ/VGK fan, and maybe a Tkachuk fan, and if you say Brown to a Coyotes fan, what can a Kings fan really say to ruffle feathers? Haha, we won a Cup. Yeah, but nobody cares.

To be annoying, you have to matter to other people. It's not enough just being annoying.

A further explanation of the McDonagh trade to Nashville, and the predicament the parties were in. The TL;DR (or hearing impaired) version is: waive to go to Nashville, or we'll waive you and you'll be claimed by Columbus.

For all the times I've disagreed with Blake's moves, one thing I sincerely give him credit for: he tries to do right by the players, and he treats them like people more than assets.

I 100% recognize TB followed the rules here, but just because it's legal doesn't mean it's right.

Let's all throw a pity party for the multi-millionaire that needs to move for a couple of years. Even better, how about for the guys earning millions that aren't even earning it?

Does anyone else remember that huge collision Marchment and Smolinski had with another Sharks player. I think I remember the other guy breaking his nose. He was down for a while.

Doesn't seem that long ago, but I remember walking by Marchment at the prospect tournament in 2019. I joked with my buddies that I should have stuck out my knee.
