That's legitimately shocking.

But the Conn Smythe is a trophy for a 2 month time frame. Maybe even just the Finals MVP. You don't have to be, what should be, the elite of the elite to win thar. The HoF needs a higher bar than the Conn Smythe. Or even the Hart.

Sometimes it does feel like the HoF has gotten diluted, but then I know that I'm not a good judge of that stuff. Outside of the obviously all-time level players, who match or break significant records, or are just an overall dominant presence on the ice, I would tend toward no on any edge cases. To me, Kopitar, obviously a Kings HoF guy, but a league wide elite of the elite HoF player? I guess if Luongo is going, and he's got the pedigree(not drafted that high for nothing), and a solid career, but HoF? I'd say the same for Kopitar.

Same with Doughty. Considering all the criticisms we've had for him over 14 years, is that HoF worthy? A small part of the game, but getting his shots blocked. Crosby is famous for, at least allegedly, working on bits of his game every year that he felt were insufficient. It's what keeps him near the top every year. 34 this year, and still on pace for 100pts. Doughty, seems to shoot the puck the same way every year. Crosby, in addition to the point totals, has that feel to him. A little bit more special than the rest for a long time. He's worked at it. Is that Doughty? If the HoF is the extraordinary club, I would say no. If it's the quite good club, then sure.

I highly recommend everyone go back and watch highlights or even the full games (on YouTube) of the Bruins/Canucks final to see how truly garbage Luongo was in big games.

Any interest in McDonagh? 4 years at $6.75M makes me say no but he's soo good. If it was 2 years I'd do it easily.

McDonagh is everything this team needs on the blue line right now, and at a very manageable cap hit.

If Blake can get him for anything less than Clarke/Byfield, he should pull the trigger.

Not sure how we take a full cap hit McDonagh and re-sign Kempe, Anderson, Durzi. At least one those has to go or there has to be some substantial retention in the deal. Might need to be both honestly

Kupari, Durzi and 2023 2nd for McDonagh. Cap be dammed

Find a taker for Iafallo and that should free space for Kempe and Anderson

McDonagh is old and would be way out of his usefulness by the time our prospects enter their primes. Trading for a player like him would 100% be a sign that we are in win now.

Anderson - Doughty
McDonagh - Clarke
Durzi - Roy

Yeah, sign me up.

Where is Bjornfot? What happens with Walker?

LA's D is such a rubix cube right now.

He just turned 33 and there is no reason to think he cannot finish his contact.

Like I said on the main board, this will make my EA NHL pairing of McDonagh-Doughty “Doughboys” pairing a reality. That’s been my pairing since NHL12 lol. but that contract is pretty bad. As for his play, I haven’t followed him for a couple years now, I know he was still good when he first arrived in Tampa. Has he been regressing?

He looked slooooooow in the playoffs, even if effective. He's gonna be like Edler at the end, still very skilled and all brains, great PKer, but slow as molasses. It's smart of TBL to move him and lean into Cernak as the shutdown 'guy' rather than full-on pairing and get Sergachev more minutes rather than moving Sergachev.
