At this point simple incompetence is a step up

Byfield is just "out indefinitely" but a fractured ankle is at least 6 weeks. They didn't do surgery so probably in that 6-8 week range. They won't commit because it's the kind of injury that can easily have setbacks and there's no hurry to bring him back.

Breaks if complex enough can be 12 weeks of cast time. I had one myself.

I'm not going to wade through the old posts but I thought someone had shared a quote from Blake/TMac/someone saying it was 6-8 weeks. They may have just switched it to indefinite just so they can be flexible if there is a setback.
