Martin Jones needs to sign with the Leafs, an all former Kings backup crease.

Plus I want to see the Leafs fans reaction

Fleury is throwing away $6M in salary if he retires this season. He’s close to $70M in career earnings, but that’s no small amount to just give up. And with the acquisition, Chicago is now the top spending team against the cap in the league. Tbl are pushed down to second.

I don’t know if it’s possible within a buyout window. But maybe Chicago buys out MAF if he doesn’t report. The cap hit goes down to $3M for this year and next. And Fleury is free to sign anywhere.

And what the hell is going on in Chicago? Supposedly "rebuilding" but they just made a massive trade/signing, are expecting to be a playoff team, and have the highest payroll in the league. What a dumpster fire!

kind of a lot of term on that one, i guess it's not crazy overpayment though

i always felt like lebanc got an extra year and some $ for taking that 1yr bridge to bail san jose out, then he underperformed it anyway.. guess i was expecting something more like 3 or 4 years, $4-4.5 for garland

No ice cream for us. Here’s the only place we’re looking for Kings targets.

Wasn't Schwartz a bit of dumpster diving as it was since he was hurt and all that?

Probably listening to Kane and Toews too much. Just like Doughty here. The crop of vets stuck in SJ too.

After Seattle, keeping the pick, and the QO to AA, where would Schwartz even play?

I can see the opening night roster projection being what the mayor recently put up.

Iafallo – Kopitar – Arvidsson
Kempe – Vilardi – (Forward 11)
Andersson – Byfield – Brown
Moore – JAD – (Forward 12)
(Forward 13)
(Forward 14)

I think the Kings have decided Wagner is first on the chopping block in camp. AA22 can slot into those 12-14 positions along with Lizotte and Lemieux, with Grundstrom and Wagner the odd men out. So a guy like Schwartz or Saad could be what fills the second line winger position shown open.

The only wildcard there IMO is Byfield since he can play in the AHL. I think Kupari makes the team out of camp as the 3C.

My sources are telling me the leafs have made their biggest off season signing, they are now the favorites to once again be eliminated in the first round.

I put dumpster dive deals into two categories: signed to a cheap contract coming off a bad year(s) or cap dump for non premium futures. For the second category in recent history for the Kings, Carter would be a dumpster player they moved out and Arvidsson a player moved in.

Wagner is signed for 2 more years, with $2.5m coming to him, even if he plays in Ontario. I'd be surprised if he's there. Meaning you have to trade him, and who needs Wagner? He doesn't even do anything with his speed.

Looks like Yandle to Philly.

Philly has probably been the most active team so far. They’ve brought in now Ellis, Risto, Atkinson and Yandle. And sent out Vorachek, Ghost, Patrick and Myers. The talk is they felt the problem last year was in the locker room. They’ve given their coach a bunch of veterans to play with, so I think the talk is real.
