The exact same cost as Brendan Lemieux, who was acquired for a 4th rounder. Now the Rangers are looking to get tougher to answer Tom Wilson, and the Avs do this to match up against the likes of Reaves, despite the fact that Reaves barely even played this season.

Maybe Colorado will flip MacD to the Rags for a 3rd rounder in 2025...

Big Mac gets a 4th round pick and everyone is worried about what to do about the logjam of garbage forwards.

Either you're all worried about nothing or MacDermid is better than most of you thought which, coincidentally, are both things I believe.

Seriously though, good for him. This fight with Reaves has to happen now with the rivalry they've got going with Vegas.
Yep…

now that's wild, 5 years.. probably a shrewd business move all said and done though, gonna keep butts in seats there when that team inevitably falls off the cliff

It was a good move for Washington. He'll be chasing Gretzky for the next five years and has a real shot to accomplish it.

What's funny is that many Vegas fans want to dump Reaves and view him as a waste of a roster spot. Now I want to see Vegas send Reaves to the Rangers, and Colorado will just waste a roster spot on MacDermid to sit in the press box. I can't imagine him getting much playing time on the Avs.

Remember Erik Karlsson signed a 8 year / $92,000,000 contract with $92,000,000 guaranteed, and an annual average salary of $11,500,000. In 2021-22, Karlsson will earn a base salary of $5,500,000 and a signing bonus of $9,000,000, while carrying a cap hit of $11,500,000.This contract doesn't expire til 2027 I believe.

Krebs, Patrick and a 1st?

I think Vegas has to be the front runner for Eichel now.

Probably a little more. I see them running Stone, Eichel, and Patrick down the middle. They run a very unique system. Given how strong Stone is everywhere - over a point per game last season AND a top defensive forward in all metrics - he’s their 1C and runs that line from the wing. Most people complain Vegas doesn’t have a 1C but Stone is the guy. Even Tuch has mentioned the system they run allows them to move around very easily.

Add two more prospects. My guess it will take 5 pieces. Currently at 12 mil in cap space.
After Martinez resigns, they will have about 7 and change. Still not enough space to fit in 10 mil cap hit.

Since when does Stone play Center?

They likely throw in Reilly Smith (1 year left at $5 million) to help make a potential deal work.

I think they have interest in Danault. Could see him link up again with Pacioretty.

why, waive him and if no one claims put him in the AHL where he may still get paid but his cap hit pretty much fully goes away

It costs nothing against the cap, like around $200k for 4 years. That’s less than a week of dead cap on the books this year between the Rick, Carts and Dion. For $200k you buy ice time for guys worth watching how they develop. Consider it an investment towards TV ratings.

Maybe, if he manages to last more than 5 games before Brind'Amour skullf***s him.

I have the feeling Raleigh is a better fit than NYC for this guy. Brindy took pathetic wages to stay in that town. Maybe him and the player have more things in common than on the surface, like a love of great BBQ.
