I understand some of the reasoning for the canes trading him, but ultimately the Canes trading Ned away brings them right back to square 1. Neither Mrazek or Reimer are #1 goalies and I don't think signing a free agent goalie is going to solve anything.

I hate when people look back 10 years ago and act all aghast that someone made homophobic slurs. 10 years ago I was using plastic straws and eating tuna that wasn't dolphin safe. It doesn't mean I am a horrible person today.
The context is important as to the impact on the player in question and perhaps as to why there was a reluctance to go public.

keeps getting worse…makes what the teammates who were bullying him after did somehow evenmore heinous

I am starting to question Andrew Shaw as one of the people who would attack the victim about it. Andrew Shaw was suspended in 2016 for using racial slurs at a referee.

The victim's incident was in 2010. In point 25 of the lawsuit, the plantiff claims that blackhawk teammates used homophobic slurs at him YEARS after the incident. Andrew Shaw was on the Hawks 2011-2016. Connect the dots.

STONE COLD!

I don't know much about the Chicago situation but it's pretty sad assuming what's reported is accurate.

I'm pretty sure that Voynov would still be a King if he wasn't arrested and the media wasn't aware of it. I'm also willing to bet that other players and their wives were probably well aware of his abusive behavior. I could be completely wrong but that typically isn't something that happens out of no where.

A lot of what has been exposed in the league over the past few years is pretty eye opening. Lots of machismo behavior that borders on sociopathy.

Telling someone to suck a dick is an unusual insult?

Context matters. Telling someone you know nothing about to "go f*** their mother" in the heat of the moment is one thing. Telling that to someone when you know their mother just died is sociopathic. Also this was a teammate. Why you would ever say shit like that to someone on your own team is beyond me.

No one should believe “for the fellas” is a real thing.

I'm not following, what am I missing?

The respect for teammates part takes a backseat to competing for limited spots. Some of these guys will use intimidation tactics against their teammates to hold their roster spots.
