Maybe the funniest thing Norm has ever said.

That's a good candidate.

I'd also add:

"I didn't even know he was sick!"
"You know, the more I learn about this Adolf Hitler guy, the less I like him."
and
"So it's official. Murder is legal in the state of California." (Re: OJ Simpson verdict.)

RIP Norm.

E: Also, the Oilers GDT has some...interesting...suggestions on what to do with bodily fluids.

My favourite is “congrats to _____ _______ on winning the heisman trophy, thats something they can never take away from you. Unless you kill your wife and waiter” or the bit about Germany not being allowed to be a country anymore

His "box office poison"/"chairman of the bored" interview on Conan might be the funniest bit of late night TV I've ever seen, and he wasn't even the one being interviewed. Just absolutely crushed that poor girls dreams with two sentences.

It's rare to see a host truly react to punchline like that, it came out of nowhere and Conan almost goes into a convulsion when it hits him.

The whole Janice and the Shallow Grave routine is unbelievable.

It's almost a certainty that Allvin will make a couple of additions at the TDL. But examining the trade-boards on Sportsnet and TSN, I have absolutely no idea who he could add.

Almost all of those tradeable players just don't project for the Canucks--either because of age, a lack or production or salary cap concerns.

So it'll likely be somebody flying below the radar--a guy who we didn't project would ever move, until suddenly he is.

With Vasi out for the first 1/4-1/3 of the season, plus Serg going down around the ASG, amazing that they are still in the race.

East race, starting to see the separation of the 6-8 spots from the 9-12 spots. TB with a huge win today vs NJ to up it to a 7 point lead over NJ. NJ had a chance to cut it down to 3 points with 2 games in hand and didn't get it down.

TB - 69 points in 60 games
Det - 68 points in 57 games
Phi - 67 points in 59 games

Pit would need to win all 4 games in hand on Phi to pass them in the standings. But, probably not realistic for them to expect to win all their games in hand.

Internally for Pit, NYI, NJ, Was do they say to themselves, if we are not within X points by March 5/6 that we need to hammer the phones to move the UFAs to be.
The East playoff spots are essentially set now. NJ beating TB could have made it interesting, but they basically lost their season this morning.

WAS and PIT are not gonna go on a big enough run to catch up.

Give Kuch the Hart.

Man, you came to the right place. I just got on a big Norm kick.

I’m partial to when his pal Artie Lange got a bad review for their movie, it said “Artie has all the charm of a date rapist” and immediately he says “That’s not that bad, date rapists have to have way more charm than a regular rapist”.

What’s fascinating to me is the ease of his style. The wit is quick, but the jokes he makes like this are ridiculously efficient in how few words are needed to produce such a hard laugh. There is no way I could be stuck in a room for 24 hours and come up with a joke nearly that good, and if I was, it would be much more convoluted.

His Super Dave interviews are amazing as well. I got my wife to watch Dirty Work with me, she enjoyed it. His impressions are unreal, as well. I find him a very interesting person, he began doing this routine with vaudeville puppets where one of his puppets was a holocaust denier. It’s kinda funny, and then you realize he did this when Jeff Dunham was getting big and he’s probably petty enough to do this as commentary.

I either don’t like or don’t get the bastardized version of his Hitler joke not knowing he was sick. Like I seen people quote it about Norm. The joke is only really funny to me because f***in everyone knows who Hitler is and how he died.

I wanted to see him do standup. Entirely unique comedian. Thanks for the greatest Conan O’Brien moment of all time.

Courtney, the actress was a very good sport about it. I thought I could see in her eyes the “I want to laugh harder but I really shouldn’t” look.

He was so good, he was able to make a set up and punchline the same sentence. He was so good, people he rubbed the wrong way thought he was funny. He was so good, and this is the telltale of any artist - he could do different styles exceptionally.

E; I know I’m really OT I’ll stop there. Had to get all the tism out.

almost too quiet. guess he will surprise us with a few moves. 1 hockey trade, 1 involving lower picks. and 1 just to clear roster space. i.e pdg

I do not have much confidence in the Flyers management:
  1. They have several assets they ought to trade—but it sounds like they are asking for astronomical returns that may leave them with nothing.
  2. But… they seem like they may be prone to galaxy-braining their own pro-scouting.
The Flyers scary effectiveness on the ice against Vancouver this season aside, I feel like they have the right team building philosophy down but lack some of the management experience and organizational competencies to properly execute on it.

The Gauthier thing reeked of a rookie front office, as did the trade games they were playing with Carter Hart last season knowing WJR sword of Damocles was dangling over the player.

I also don’t think they got enough in the Provorov for Petersen & Walker swap. Walker has turned out great but was a cap dump. Petersen’s contract is horrid and all they got for it is Grans (who’s development went sideways last year and continued this year), 22nd overall, and two 2nds while giving up the best player in the trade.

Walker and their 1st (Bonk) have turned out great so far but taking on Petersen’s ugly contract should have just netted most of the draft compensation they got in the entire trade.

Yeah, they’re in this weird limbo where they do something really good, and then really strange. Their focus is correct.

I also would really like how AZ is developing. They would be really scary in 3-5 years with all those picks. I say would because the organization can’t find a home. I like their business of hockey but their regular business is cooked. f***, I know they don’t want to pull the plug for plenty of good reasons but they’ve been on life support since before I even touched a hockey stick. That’s a ridiculously long time to have a recurring clown show.

They are so quick to say a Canadian franchise is failing and then throw the kitchen sink in a location that has no interest in housing a team for 20 years. But you’ll know they aren’t going anywhere the potential dollars are too much. Who knows? Maybe what they say is true - if at first you don’t succeed, keep sinking money into the problem until it does.

Great to see Patrick Kane in Chicago, and a great performance he put on.

Regardless of what teams other players play for, some guys are just an absolute treat to watch..This guy is a wizard with the puck.

Anybody that just admires hockey in its purest form (like watching Quinn Hughes)..Has to admire Kane..a remarkable player.

Looks like that Reilly suspension galvanized the Leafs...they are undefeated since the suspension, and have won their last 7 games.

I'm still predicting that they will be a better playoff team this season, than they've shown in past years.
Was reading the leafs board and Reilly is back to playing like he did last regular season

Hope is he turns it on again come playoff time

I'm the farthest thing from a Leaf fan, and I always root for their failures..However, I think that Treliving will do a way better job than Kyle Dubas in getting the Leafs farther ahead in the post season.

A number of posters here , think that Treliving is bunk..I disagree.

We know that you believe this. You’ve drawn your hard line stance and no level of leafs performance this year would have changed your view. You held the same belief before they got hot. You’ll hold it if they go down in R1.

I think he’s done a bad job. But not every best iteration of a team within its competitive cycle wins. Other teams might be less dominant, puck bounces your way, chemistry off the ice is better than the paper lineup, etc.

We’ll see where the dominoes land. I think some crazy shit will go down at this TDL.

Kucherov is a fine candidate, but McD, MacK, Matthews and Hughes (if Dmen got a fair shake) are just as good imo.
