Josh Anderson is overrated. He's not very good other than hitting. Which he does well

But he's exactly the player Matthews need on his wing. Clearing space and making time and bothering the goalie

I think he's overrated. He can skate in straight lines like a freight train and can bury chances occasionally, but his offensive production the last couple of years does not justify his salary whatsoever.

Anderson makes half of what said Leaf players your referring make for perspective, so what’s your point? If it’s that Anderson isn’t worth his contract? Well than that goes double for AM/MM

Winning teams needs a player like Anderson. Even if he sucks in scoring

Tampa has Maroon, Vegas has Tuch, Chicago had Bickle

Someone who can play and someone who can hit without being a liability. Ill pay 6 mil for Anderson

I agree, Anderson is a first line winger who would make AM a better player.

Josh Anderson is exactly the kind of player we should insulate Matthews with - prime age big body who can truck and has a decent medium power skill game - sort of like the 2020s version of a Shayne Corson, but he also sucks at his current contract.

If you dig around at his offensive numbers, he's basically putting up good goal totals but also Joe Thornton point totals, which would be a disaster at his cap hit on our team. But on the other hand, his shift to shift 'pugnacity, testosterone, truculence' is something we just don't have.

A happy compromise would be Barclay Goodrow, who is a Toronto guy but is higher profile having had so much success on Tampa. Not sure what he would cost. A good organization should have its ducks in a row and have the equivalent of a Nick Paul or an Alex Formenton ready to fill that role at a cheap cost.

He’s been a complete ghost for the vast majority of the playoffs.

Suzuki and Caufield have been way better. But I guess that doesn’t fit the narrative right?

It is OK for Dubas to overpay stars but a no-no for other team to overpay some players even if they have cap space. SMH.

Anderson is a player Leafs would love to have and we would cheer for him as long as he is crashing and banging and scoring here and there despite his contract. Having said that, he and his type is not the missing piece between winning and losing the 1st round for the Leafs, AM and MM not choking will be the difference between the Leafs winning and losing in the playoffs.

Having said that, he and his type is not the missing piece between winning and losing the 1st round for the Leafs, AM and MM not choking will be the difference between the Leafs winning and losing in the playoffs.

One player won't magically fix the woes of this team. Anderson is a good piece but you won't find him at the bottom of the bargain bin.

I wouldn’t mind if we signed Palmeri to a deal, moved Nylander back with Matthews and run JT/Palmeri 2nd line.
Move Marner to acquire a solid anchor on D and rebuild the 3rd line NY/Boston/Tampa style.

Exactly and this is why many are bitching about the makeup of this team and 4 forwards taking up half the cap. Mind you nobody is bitching about Mitch's ugly cap hit if he scored a few goals and assists and did not flip a couple of pucks over the glass because he was afraid of contact
