Well when LL took over the Islanders their best player and captain left the team. But since then they have made the playoffs every year and now are in the final 4. On the other hand the team Lou left had 3 young star forwards to build around and the money to sign the Islanders former captain. But things haven't worked out for that GM.
Nothing wrong with that. Bringing it every shift is the quality we want in skill and a core. What's wrong with Robertson? He brings it every shift.
Nah. He'd get destroyed. I agree he's got a good motor, but the physicality of the series would've neutered him. Hopefully the 50 5"6 Finnish players we drafted will help. Not so sure, that kid has a playoff motor I predict.
Oh no, you LOLed me, so deft. Next.LOL Does tossing a dog a bone offend you that much?
Lou Lamiorello is an outdated dinosaur who basically thinks it's still 2003
Agreed. A winning GM usually is the one that isn't afraid to make bold moves.Tavares leaving the Islanders also highlights the benefits of opening up cap flexibility in a flat, finite cap system. You open up a hole but you can also fill a few different positions all of a sudden. That's also a lesson learned from the Joe Thornton trade to San Jose. You can take the L on the trade but the free cap space also allows for a big UFA add. A manager just needs to be nimble.
Sure, but he wins in every situation he’s even been in, it’s isn’t an accident or good fortune is all I’m saying.I'd say it's a winning mentality in the right situation.
You have a drill sergeant, but you need a team who responds to that.
It was basically a lesser version of what Danault did to our top line.he did imo... you will never completely shut down those 3 guys those players are gifted and the definition of clutch play... but JG done a excellent job.
You're too slow and reactionary like our GM. Some foresight is needed. It's no use making moves "that made sense at the time, but we just got unlucky it didn't work out".Lol how would we know without having seen him in that type of series? I'd like to give people a chance before writing them off.
A lot less than the team he left though.Absolutely. Doesn’t mean he had nothing to begin with on the island.
Lou Lamiorello 3rd round
Our GM Eliminated 1st round
Crazy that the outdated dinosaur is consistently going further than ours, especially when we have so much "talent". I'm not even Lous biggest fan but you really are embarrassing yourself tonight so I think it's time you go to bed.
Doesn’t seem a coincidence that all the big money players, except Price, are at home, 19 of 20.It was basically a lesser version of what Danault did to our top line.
Really starts making a guy wonder wtf the point of paying all this money to star forwards is when all it takes is a Pageau or Danault to severely reduce their impact on the game.
Yeah, but its completely misevaluated on this board lol
Legit question, who? We hit on a 20% chance for Matthews, which was a beautifully executed tank. Andersen, who let's say is a bit if a mixed bag in playoffs. Am I missing anyone else? For sure. I mean look at what players Lou left in Toronto for the new GM to build off of.

To be fair - Kucherov falls just shy of the $10M mark.Doesn’t seem a coincidence that all the big money players, except Price, are at home, 19 of 20.
Marner, NylanderLegit question, who? We hit on a 20% chance for Matthews, which was a beautifully executed tank. Andersen, who let's say is a bit if a mixed bag in playoffs. Am I missing anyone else?
Still had most points in a season under his reign and the core were puppies still....except here
For sure.To be fair - Kucherov falls just shy of the $10M mark.
But the point still stands. If you are gonna pay the big money - they better be assassins like Kucherov and Kane.
Dubas/Hunter drafted Marner and Nylander was a Nonis pickMarner, Nylander
