Panthers tied the game and then gave up a goal right away to be down a goal. Then ullmark made a crazy save and bruins on transition score again.

I hate the bruins
I can’t believe how often theBruins are setting up to take a pass and split the D and Florida isn’t adjusting.

they Got elite level goaltending, Swayman or Ullmark are both so good, they got Elite D, they are a talented team, hope someone upsets them in round 1 again though! its Thanksgiving and they are running away with the Atlantic again!

its amazing how they are still managing to have the "winning culture". They've got Pasta and marchand as offensive pieces and nothing much and have McAvoy on teh backend and elite goal tending and everyone has bought in. They also backcheck like crazy

I recall one coach saying... practice hard and in teh games things will come naturally. And if you paly right way on the ice every game; your body and instincts will be natural you won't have to think much.

I’ve long maintained they need to transition to a blue collar, pack rat, Oilers under Ron Low, Sabres under Lindy Ruff kind of team. Depth, pace, defense, goaltending, de-emphasize the scoring and big names. Said the same of the Sabres when they were in that bad marriage with Eichel. Sometimes a market just can’t handle certain star power without falling into the trap of building a program as their career vehicle.
Feels like theyve tried to inject some of those with the Foegle, Brown and Hyman signings. Even Ryan and Ekholm

I think they have to accept that this season is a write off. I know it’s early and there’s still time but I wouldn’t invest any future into trying to lift that sorry group.
I agree, but where do you go from here overall. Tough to completely waste a season you entered as a cup favourite with no real changes, but theyd also be selling at rock bottom

At this point even if the underlyings were good under Woodcroft and if they stay the same under this new guy the Oilers goaltending is just so shit and their morale is so broken that the notion of them going on a run to get back into the race is unimaginable.
This year is looking like a write off for the Oilers. Then they have basically 2 years left of McDavid. So they will be very desperate to turn around the team in the offseason but they really don't have much cap space.

Once they go out and sign a starting goalie and fill out the roster with minimum salary players, there is probably enough cap space left over for one decent piece (3 M?). That Campbell contract has really destroyed whatever cap space they had. They could easily have over 12 million tied up in a starting goalie (5 M?), a buried Campbell, and a back-up goalie (Skinner)

Oilers..

Their PP went from 32.4% to 21.7%
Their GF/G went from 3.96 to 2.94
Their GA/G from 3.12 to 3.88

I get their Goalies, and team defense have been terrible, but why they are suffering an offensive blackout, is a bit of a mystery to me. How can the PP drop so badly, though it was due for some regression?

I'm not really even sure how they turn things around this season, the players look so demoralized.

Tonight's Oilers game IMO is another L

so basically they will have played 18 games and have 11 points. If we assume 95 points to be playoff floor oilers basically need 84 points in 64 games (128 points) they will have to go about .65 hockey for the remainder of the season thats about a 107 pt pace.

Not undoable but a really daunting task
