Wow, with a sentence like that, I respect you more and less at the same time.
For part of that time I was a mod on here and I used a different computer for HF while watching the games so i wouldn't pollute the HF computer with porn and streaming viruses lol. It was so hockey nerd. I was a better fan back then though, I watched way more games. Not smart, but more attentive.

I remember how we would argue with mooseOAK about how the team needed to legit rebuild and he was having none of it. Then there was Big Mama, a random Ian White homer for some reason. Frankie was the opposite of moose, he hated everything. Zeke would come up with any nonsense stat that could make the Leafs look better than they actually were. Squiffy, Northern Dancer and LL would get on Rand's case for not being part of the BWO.

Good times. Good times? The team was shit. But in a way, good times.

I honestly think it's time to put Dubas in the same conversation as JFJ when it comes to all time worst GM's in Leafs history.

Actually. Dubas might be worse.

My God how could he let Hyman walk?
Dubas...

lol.

No. I recently said McDavid is 3AAV more valuable than Matthews.

And I called Matthews a winger.

McDavid is a true #1C.

Matthews is not.
honestly idk how feasible it is to win with your best player not being an elite playmaker. The best example of why was Matthews trying to get 70 and Kuch trying to get 100 in game 82. More options harder to defend. Ovi won but after how many years of losing

Stars are out of gas after Vegas and Colorado series. Tank is empty.
Looks very much like the Rangers against Florida, but for different reasons. This will be a tall order for Dallas to come back. But Florida is going to choke the Oilers into submission in very short order in the Cup final.

Yeah they had a killer road. I wonder how it would have been different of Vegas won the last game of the regular season instead of giving up that spot to the Kings

How it would've been if Pittsburgh didn't lose to the freaking Hawks in game 81 last season and allowed Florida to claim the final playoff spot. The Flames who had more points than the Panthers actually missed the playoffs in the west.

This too

Pens probably don't hire Dubas if that happens either

Dallas is overrated. I told you guys. I wouldn't underestimate Edmonton against the Panthers either.
If it wasn’t for the powerplay oilers would have been out first round
Outplayed the rest of way

And if Hyman signs same contract with us and puts up multiple 20 goal seasons we would be criticizing him and Dubas all the same

U don’t need an elite goalie eh!!!!

I really don't think Matthews has been a problem in the playoffs. Matthews always brings it. He plays body, back checks and does everything thats asked of him IMO (except score unfortunately).

To look at Matthews one has to see him with and without Marner. Him without Marner he has been more impactful with Marner he has been shit. Marner's stats drop quite a bit if not playing with matthews. If thats the case then Marner is NOT WORTH 11 AAV; forget about what his ask is going to be on his new contract. F-that. Leafs should be nowhere near it.

Here are some stats: *natural stattrick is now asking for money to aggregate more of the results for multiple years LOL

Matthews Game log (this year)

And just for fun Nylander gamelog

I am yet to see Marner and his 11 AAV improving the game of his linemates and making them more productive when not carried by Matthews or Tavares (at his prime).

Boston put Pasta and Marchand on separate lines
Florida has Tkachuk and Barkov play on sperate lines
Oilers have McJesus and Drai play on separate lines making their line-mates productive. Heck McJesus made Hyman a frekain' 50 goal scorer

There is absolutely NO WAY Marner is worth 11 AAV. He is not Patty Kane or Kucherov. And Marner shouldn't be a Leaf anymore.

Matthews on the other hand does raise his game in the playoffs IMO
He plays ok in the playoffs and has one spurt every year, but he’s never been worth his salary. He hasn’t displayed the leadership required to lead in the playoffs, either.
Also concerning is the company he keeps that apparently hangs around the team, which Is probably not a good idea.
If I was in charge I’d be weighing all that before I made any decision.

Dallas has been impressive. Giving it everything they have. Robertson is pretty invisible though. Not really impressed with him.

There goes that inferior Zach Hyman scoring another playoff goal again. Bet the Oilers wish they had Mitchy Marner instead....

Mitch Marner is the most over-rated player in the NHL...never hit 100 pts, scores an average of 24 goals over 8 seasons....and an avg of 80 points over same period..a playoff flop...and now he wants $12 plus million on his next contract...that's freakin' laughable.
