I was floored at how little the cats got Tarasenko for.

I don't know much about the player nowadays but on the surface 17 goals and 41 points in 57 games tells me that he's still got plenty of game, and still has a wrist shot that can score from anywhere.
Heard Tank told Sens he would waive only for Cats. It was between Sens and Cats for him last off season. Tank and Cats basically told Sens what they would get.

When are we gonna get a pending UFA who's holding out for a Leafs only trade?

Toronto really has become one of the absolute least desirable places to play.

Uh, if memory serves didn't the most high-profile UFA the league had seen to that point sign here because he only wanted to play here?

That's a UFA signing my friend.
What is the difference? Tons of players have chosen to play for the Leafs because they are from here. That's all some of these American guys are doing. Brady will be the next to do it in Ottawa.

That Avalanche team really holds itself to a high standard.

He was also waived by Philly LOL.

Bet it had to do with post game workout routine ;)

P.S. The drive to achieve something. Either you have it or you don't; and if you don't then all you have are excuses, entitlement and self admiration

He's a lazy player with terrible production, he's a poor man's PLD and nobody wants to deal with the actual PLD. MacKinnon and Makar were probably done with Johansen after the first few weeks of training camp.
Those two certainly appear to have reacted well to the trade based on their performances last night. I think they could have had another 5 points each if they felt like it.

Detroit didn't even show up for the game. They scored on both their scoring chances in the first and was fortunate that Lyon kept them in it for a period

3 bad losses in a row
This is why worrying about teams like Detroit and Tampa is silly. While they may win three in a row, they are equally prone to wild swings in the other direction.

Wouldn't that carry more water?

UFA who has no strings attached, can choose any suitor they want and chooses the Leafs vs a player under contract trying to gain more control but still restricted by the teams negotiating a trade?

Definition of consistency this year. Extended his season-opening home point streak to 31 games.

On his way to winning the Hart.

I never really watched him til this year, and I was surprised how physical and how responsible he is in his own end.

I wish the Leafs had signed him in the summer.
