I guess this is why another poster said Dubas has entered the realm of indifference now.He wasn't getting that money and title anywhere else in the near future. He'd be a fool to turn it down IMO. Even if he gets fired in a few years, he'll get another gig.
When I look at the Pens post-crosby and post-malkin....these guys are light years away from being serious contenders again. Dubas gets to enjoy his pay day and disappear behind a lengthy rebuild.
His only stress the next few seasons is worrying about sucking enough to draft some superstars and then wait 4-7 years for the entire roster to form. Realistically we're looking at 10+ years for another pens cup.
The Dubas era is over. He will be considered and return as one of the league's old dinosaur GMs by the time he ever wins a Cup. That's actually ironic on many levels (relative to all the debates that have went down throughout the years).
