Two 40 goal scorers lost by Dubas. All in service of keeping Kerfoot. To be fair, Shanahan also had a hard-on for Kerfoot and was hoping Seattle would take McCann in the expansion draft.
How? Kerfoot was left unprotected in the expansion draft.

Kucherov - 103
MacKinnon - 98
McDavid - 94

McDavid has 4 games in hand on Kucherov and 3 on MacKinnon.
Shocking that he is the first player since Gretzky to have 8 straight 90 point seasons

I think partly because there has been no NHL strikes or lockouts

Marner will never score 40 and Zac might end up with 50. 5.5x7 looks like a bargain even if he falls off a cliff the last 2 years.

Missed on zadorov. Wonder what plan c is? Dumba?
Want no part of Dumba, Peeke, Borgen would be affordable options…….

40 goal stonehands Hyman lol.

Good for him though. Always liked him here. Never thought he'd have a chance at 50. Helps being with the best offensive player in the world.

Always figured he'd catch up. There is way too much season left for him not to.

2 points per game over his last 39 games has helped for sure:

16 goals and 62 assists
I think there is something to the idea that he is intentionally trying to rack up assists rather than goals. Maybe he is trying to get Hyman to 50. I think McDavid is at the point where he can do anything he wants on the ice.

It's like he's looking for a different challenge every year in the regular season.
Gretzky was the same way. The year he scored 92 I remember him saying in interviews that he was intentionally trying to score more goals. Stating the obvious, guys like this simply exist on a different level.

Nobody was lost to keep Kerfoot. We could have re-signed Hyman. The consensus here was that it was not smart to re-sign somebody with multiple knee injuries until they were 36, and that he was a soft playoff underperformer that should be purged. Depth players come and go, and sometimes they'll go on to success elsewhere. That's part of hockey, especially when you're a great hockey team. What's important is what you do with your team, not using hindsight to lament former players having success elsewhere in the cushiest environment in the league.
