Eichel won't be going on LTIR until the playoffs either. That was what was being implied.
Has it been announced when Eichel is coming back? Either way, Woll isn't anything like what Tampa/Vegas did previously.
Do you even get cap accruals if you start the season using LTIR?
Don't think we would have been running a 23 man roster all this time if eligible to accrue.
No, we don't accrue cap space. The only thing putting Woll on LTIR does is let us use his 760k to replace him with another goaltender while he's injured.

Is it because we started the season utilizing LTIR, or do we just not accrue at any time LTIR is being used?

When you realize you have Karlsson on the books for three more years

I am pretty sure you never accrue using LTIR.

Dekes would know better, but it just frees up the cap hit of the player on LTIR.

So while Eichel is out, they have his 10 million to acquire another player.

It only works if they keep Eichel out, or would have to place another player on LTIR if Eichel could come back.

Once the playoffs start there is no Cap and you could use any 23 players in your system.

You accrue cap space with open cap, but you can't accrue cap space with LTIR. It just lets you use that money to replace them.
We haven't accrued any extra cap this season because we started the season in LTIR.

I don't know if it's that big of a deal. If Crosby, Malkin or Letang retire, or ask to be moved and they start a true rebuild, they will use his cap hit to help get to the floor.
The floor? Man that's a nightmare to say where you are a franchise.

Yeah, and it doesn't bother me at all. If there's a loophole you better use it if you can because others will. Vegas has assets too, so they will do what they are able to do, as they should.

Kuch may have been a bit dicey if the rumors of it being a running joke were true. But they got away with it so.

Yeah, I'm not sure why people are acting like 3 years is an issue. He's not even their longest signed or oldest signed core defenseman.
If Pittsburgh shifts to a rebuild over the next couple years, you could just retain on him and get back more than you paid.

Agree, and I hope more teams do it. Nagging injury and you're comfortably in a playoff spot? LTIR!

Speaking of LTIR, bit of a stretch, but it wouldn't shock me if Landeskog somehow came back for the playoffs. Apparently, he has been skating and moving pretty well this month.

Yeah good call, I forgot about LKog. Would be kinda funny actually, Avs getting comfortable like the other two recent cup winners and pushing their weight around, nonchalantly pressure testing loopholes. We need to get there.

Man. The Bruins really travel well for such a team with lousy history.

Skinner lol
