If Pittsburgh shifts to a rebuild over the next couple years, you could just retain on him and get back more than you paid.

Dubas put together the bulk of this team, didn't he? Other than Domi, Bertuzzi, Benoit, Reaves and jones, at least two of whom draw constant scorn from people here, what else has treliving done?

But Matthews, Marner, Nylander nor Rielly are any of Dubas's guys either. Those were Lou and Burke.

It's actually a mixture of Burke, Nonis, Dubas/Hunter, and Lou that brought them in. And then one of those guys made sure we kept them all.
...Which actually wouldn't be as notable in any other market, but apparently it's a contentious thing here...

Not really, he had nothing do with our top players, apart from JT. Dude inherited a DREAM gig here. You think the hatred is weird, what about the cult around the guy here, never seen anything more bizarre in my life. Decent GM, over rated though, took forever to realize hockey isn't a excel spreadsheet.

How hard is it to re-sign guys who want to be career Leafs and @ those cap hits. I'd trust anyone from this board even the worst poster in the world, to be able to keep the amigos.

You acquire a large property in an expensive downtown city and you raise capital from investors to build 2 large upscale condo buildings. You hire the developer but instead of completing the 2 condo towers, the developer completes poorly built and designed apartments which can't be used for anything other than lower income rentals.

Once completed, the general talking points from people who don't understand real estate or investing is that the developer did a good job (I mean......the buildings are standing....what's the problem?). Is there any wonder why anyone associated with the development project would be irritated to hear that the developer did a "good job"?

I really thought it was just a list.

Sometimes just stating facts is just stating facts.

Others can determine if those facts support a position or not.

Maybe Dubas should not have re-signed some.
Maybe Treliving should not have re-signed some.
