Dubas on Toronto: “It’s a great city. But here (Pittsburgh) feels like home"

Florida hasn't given up more than 2 goals since January 19th

When you look at their lineup, you would have thought that they got worse from last years team..... a team that only made it into the playoffs on the last day. Then that epic run in the playoffs, and that momentum as carried into this year.

The difference between being a wild card team, and a top team in the league, isn't that much... a couple of players at the most, and maybe playing better together as a team... plus clearly getting good goaltending.

The margin between winning and losing is very thin. It's why the idea of not actively trying to win this season in favour of trying to win two years from now is a flawed strategy.

“When we bring that certain game, there isn’t a team in the league we can’t compete with,” Sullivan said. “We just got to make sure that we understand what that game is. And then everybody’s got to take some ownership for bringing their contribution to it.”

What is a flawed strategy is going all in but not being able to read the landscape. Eventually you run out of chips and you have to leave the table with your tail between your legs.

Bill Zito is by far the best GM in the league. Claimed Forsling off of waivers, traded a 3rd for Montour, OEL, Mikkola and Kulikov signed as free agents. Combined AAV of 11.917. 2nd in the league in goals against.

Up-front he signed Vergaeghe, traded for Reinhart, Tkachuk, Bennett etc.

I would trade almost any player on our team to have Zito as our GM.

They also won the President trophy the year before that.

If the Leafs did it the league would crack down on them
Uh....the Leafs haven't used LTIR this season?

What constitutes "all in"? Trading a 20-ish something first round pick in exchange for the chance to potentially improve the roster and maybe make a run through the playoffs?

I kind of agree.

One or two reclaimation projects can be seen as a bit of luck, but he keeps hitting.

Forsling bounced around a lot, and if it was any other GM, I would chalk it up to fortunate timing.

But a lot of players have turned their careers around after they get there

Not to gain an advantage and bring players back for game 1 of the playoffs.
I would love to see them do it with JT.

Not because I think he sucks, but because of how much cap space it could give them.

But I guess that would lead them into having no 1st for this year and 2026.

Hit a few HR's BT!
