4-0 is still impressive, especially considering their 13-6 goals differential. And whatever their schedule has been, there's still a lot of parity in the NHL, there's no such thing as an easy two points and Leaf fans should know that better than anyone. I'll be keeping an eye on them for sure, it's a very interesting story!
They are still going to be a strong defensive team. I think their biggest problem will be secondary scoring, which will grind on them as the season progresses. However, they will have a bit of cap space to acquire one or two guys at the deadline if they want, so I don't think anyone should necessarily write them off yet. I expect that Boston will still be better than Tampa, Ottawa, Buffalo and Detroit. They just won't be as good as Toronto anymore. Also, for all of the talk about how great Boston has been, they have been pretty putrid in the playoffs for a long time now. I don't think that will change this season.

That seemed odd to me too. Without looking it up, I'm pretty sure that going back over the last 10 or 20 or 30 or 40 or 50 years, Boston's record blows ours away. I'm guessing that during any of those time periods, they have made the playoffs (much) more often, they have made it to the second round more often, they have made it to the third round more often and I know for damn sure that they have won the cup more often.

I've been watching over 50 years and as best I remember, during that time, Boston has overall been a very successful franchise whereas the Leafs have overall been pretty bad.
and when they're not heads roll, which was my point............

Yeah that seems about right. I'm not writing them off, but I'm not that worried about them anymore either.

Don't think I've ever seen any Leafs fans wish any injury on McDavid like they do with Matthews.

We're not quite that pathetic.

On the bright side, now the world will get to see the Oilers' legendary depth at work.

Bunting is off to a fairly decent start in Carolina. I am still not sold he can continue without Matthews and Marner but good for him.

What has happened to Carolina's D? 30 goals against in 6 games?

A very good question. It looks like a combination of injuries, goaltending, and a bad PK. You'd think that blueline would cover up a lot of problems. Orlov's numbers don't look that good.

Bunting got too much criticism last year. He went from a good story to someone his own fans started to hate. It went too far even though he had his issues.

I was kind of surprised when they signed Orlov.

It didn't seem like that was their pressing need.

I’ve watched 3 of their games and rarely notice Bunting. I think Rod put a muzzle and shock collar on him.
He’s better off without the idiotic antics.

Watching the Flames and wondering why they don’t just blow it up.
That’s a mid pack team if things go well.

Sometimes I wonder if anyone[including myself) knows anything about anything.

How the hell can a D with Holl, Ghost, Matta, Chairot and Petry look so good for any extended period of time?
