Is it just me or are shorthanded goals being scored at a ridiculous pace? Flyers with 3 tonight, O'Connor with one in 3 straight games, Canes have 4 overall....

The beginning of the season is always a chaotic mess. This stuff will all even out after 20 games or so.

I don't think the Jets would panic nearly as much as Edmonton. I don't think there's a way Edmonton loses this game anyway.

I don't think Winnipeg has the team to dig themselves out of an early hole. Add in the attendance issues.....

I think the gulf between Toronto and Ottawa, Detroit and Buffalo is still pretty wide. Tampa is now also in the latter group, with Florida and Boston somewhere between those two groups.

Set your bar where you choose. Personally winning and Bruins falls in the category of setting the bar low and hitting it repeatedly. That doesn’t mean others aren’t as bad or worse. Unless we are talking regular season? They’re gold standard there.

That seemed odd to me too. Without looking it up, I'm pretty sure that going back over the last 10 or 20 or 30 or 40 or 50 years, Boston's record blows ours away. I'm guessing that during any of those time periods, they have made the playoffs (much) more often, they have made it to the second round more often, they have made it to the third round more often and I know for damn sure that they have won the cup more often.

I've been watching over 50 years and as best I remember, during that time, Boston has overall been a very successful franchise whereas the Leafs have overall been pretty bad.

Nice start for Boston, but they have also had a pretty easy schedule so far.

4-0 is still impressive, especially considering their 13-6 goals differential. And whatever their schedule has been, there's still a lot of parity in the NHL, there's no such thing as an easy two points and Leaf fans should know that better than anyone. I'll be keeping an eye on them for sure, it's a very interesting story!
