Former St. Louis Blues head coach Craig Berube said he has no problems with winger Jordan Kyrou, who was booed by home fans for his initial response to Berube's firing.

Berube told The Ray & Dregs Hockey Podcast(opens in a new tab) that Kyrou was simply caught off-guard when first asked about his dismissal.

"He reached out, for sure. Listen, I've got no issue with him," Berube said. "He got caught off-guard and didn't know what to say. He's young, a lot of these young guys get asked questions at the time and they're not thinking like they should think and it's tough for them.

"I was happy for Jordan, he came back and had a good game against Dallas, a very good team, so he's performed well. He'll be fine."

Craig Berube joins the fellas in conversation to discuss if he knew his days were numbered in St. Louis, what happened with Jordan Kyrou in the past week and how soon he wants to get back behind a bench in the NHL.

Probably the same way the Islanders did when they moved from Doug Weight to Barry Trotz (which also ended being a worst to (I think) league best defensive transition in one season). Better coaching.
That was my first thought, especially since Tortorella has done this before in Columbus, but he coached Philly last year.
Sean Couturier.
That's actually true, and could be part of it. Forgot he's back.

Berube’s a peach, I bet the players loved him……..

Surprise surprise, Detroit sucks

Barring an insane run from TB, feels like the top 3 in the Atlantic is set in stone with positioning to be determined
It's actually shocking how far away Buffalo, Detroit and Ottawa are from being quality teams. They are all several years, if ever, away from being quality teams. It's the difference between great first round picks and not so great first round picks. For anyone who ever complains about Mathews, Marner and Nylander, here are you alternatives. It's not so pretty.

Heck, maybe it doesn't even take an insane run for Tampa. The whole division, other than the Leafs, has been losing more than winning in the last few weeks.

Remember when people thought Yzerman was a great GM? 'Wizard' was a word they used. Well, the Yzerplan is failing big time, and all we have to do is look at the D and G that he has brought in.

Ghost
Holl
Maatta
Chiarot
Petry

Who honestly thought that group of D was going to be successful? The worst part is, all but Ghost are signed for at least another year. The Husso signing has been a disaster as well, and I can't even remember the last time they had decent goaltending.

Even most of his forward acquisitions have been of the blah variety, with a couple on long-term deals.

The results have obviously not been there and one could argue that the Leafs should've tanked at least one more season, but the leap from dead last to the playoffs was truly something special. Seeing Ottawa, Buffalo, and Detroit mired in mediocrity for years on end makes you appreciate just how fast the Leafs turned things around and how they've remained perennial playoff contenders.

Shocker, it's much more difficult to build a team in a state with crap weather and more taxes. Also not having Hedman/Stamkos to start really hurts. I've found him to be an overrated gm for a long time. His last 2 first round picks are not that promising either imo. Extremely low ceiling players being taken in the top 10 when you don't have really any top end talent.

I remember people (a lot of mainboards) saying Chevy is a crappy gm lmao. Dude typically always makes out like a bandit in trades and has been gming in arguably the toughest market for a decade and is still finding success and building strong teams. He absolutely fleeced the kings with the pld trade. At this point its just a negative having pld on your team with that contract.

You love to see it.

I can't stand PLD. Kings are a pretty good team though but anytime that turd fails, it is great to see. He's always whined about everything and he's one of the dirtiest players in the league.
