Those d are stop gaps for the most part except maybe chiarot they have a pretty good prospect pool on the bac end

For sure, but they're not good stop gaps at all. One of those D prospects might get the call soon and the others are probably a ways away. Could've brought in a better mix of players in the meantime.

They're trying to make the playoffs, right? At least, his moves up front suggest they are. Will be tough with that D

Yep, a strong defense is umm a luxury.

A strong offensive team can get away with 1 top pairing defender, 1 2nd. pairing defender and a whole bunch of players trying to make the NHL permanently, or holding on way past their best before date.

Top six forward Connor Brown about to be a healthy scratch against the Devils tomorrow night.

Enjoy that cap hit Oiler fans!
It's crazy I always liked Brown and wouldn't have been upset if we signed him, but nowhere near that money.

Yep Healthy scratch. 23GP, 0 goals, 1 assist, minus 10. And the worst of his cap hit will be next year, I believe the bonus is 3.225? Against NEXT years cap long after he'll be gone.

Next year the Oilers will be paying Campbell 5 million and hope he cracks the Condors lineup (we dodged a bullet there), and 3.22 to Brown while he plays for some other team. Ouch.

If he was a Leafs' player my guess is he wouldn't pass the medical. Maybe just too much damage to overcome?

I remember some players in the past, saying it took them up to 18 months to feel 100% after serious knee injuries.

Brown has also had some bad luck with scoring, might even be 2 that he's had taken away.

Also, are the Flyers for real?!? Top 4 in the conference....wtf lol

Winnipeg is playing great thanks in part to the PLD trade with LA .

PLD
LA 29 gp 12 pts -5
for
Vilardi 10 pts last 4 games is on fire always wanted the Leafs to trade for him. For him it is staying health
Iafolo
Kupari

Winnipeg is unsustainable. Paper tiger.
No surprise on PLD. He got everything he wanted, no reason left for him to try

Plus 2 for neal buyout

Tampa is now one point behind us and Florida. Leafs picked a bad time to suck again.
Right. Only 4 games in hand on Tampa. Yeesh. And Florida is looking pretty mediocre at the moment. The Atlantic division is a big fat yawn. I expect that Boston will lose in Winnipeg tomorrow night.

I don't get it. Show me the powerhouse in the Eastern conference. I guess most people would say the Rangers, but didn't they get blown out by Toronto?
I never mentioned any power house in the east. You’re arguing with yourself. I merely pointed out that teams are catching up. Boston is better than we are and there’s the rest fighting for playoff position as of this moment. Leafs are not looking like a contender so far this year.

Do you really think this team can beat the Rangers 4 out of 7 with their D and goaltending? Unless Shesterkin plays like Vasi last year, not happenning.
My memory of the Rangers is watching them getting run over by the Devils last year. It's basically the same team. Definitely having a good regular season so far, but they did last year, as well. They're certainly not a bad team, but it's probably a coin flip between the Rangers, the Leafs and the Bruins. Any of those teams play each other and it's probably a 7 game series.

Our offence will again be shutdown by a strong d core and goalie and our D and G won't be able to shut down the opposition enough IMO. As it stands, I do not see it. Perhaps I need to put on the blue and white gkasses some are wearing.

Agree but beating a team once is easier than beating them 4 out of 7. Of all the contenders we got the weakest D and G. Seen this core get shutdown too many times to be fooled again. As bad as Andy and Soup were at allowing untimely stinkers, our goaltending is probably the worst it has been in the Shanny era.

This is exactly how I see it. I’m open to them making moves and changing but I just see the same built team playing the same way, which has not been successful come playoff time.
