I would not have expected the Leafs and Caps to have near identical records 30 games into the season.
I don't expect that to hold up when it's all said and done though. Still shocking to say the least.

Tre will improve the D but not sure how much it will move the needle but you can keeping drinking the Shanny kool-aid, aftercall he thinks they will win with this core. Sorry, I have seen this play before. I know how it ends. Trust me, I am not the one who is dilutional. If it quacks like a duck, it is a duck.

Not tied at this point by January 1, but still pretty close. I think Boston will go on a bit of losing streak in the next little while. They have been struggling lately.
He loved playing in Toronto and I think he honestly enjoyed the attention (at least the female attention) in Toronto. He also played well, when he did play. But the team acquired him and he was clearly injury prone and the team re-signed long-term and he just proved what he was...injury prone.

Going through the season believing the Leafs have a shot is much more exciting.

Agreed. The regular season means nothing, and it is why I no longer get emotional over losses like last night. The team is jeckel and hyde but when I look at them on paper, I just can't see us beating a heavy team with good D and G in a 7 game series. I just hope Tre does not make any panic moves that will cost us down the road.

My comment has always been that I'm not sure that team exists in the Eastern conference. It isn't Boston or Florida, both of whom are now showing their struggles on defense (and, in Florida's case, in net). The Rangers? I don't know - it is basically the same lineup that was steamrolled by the Devils last year. It certainly doesn't look like the Devils or the Hurricanes this season, since both of those teams are in danger of not even making the playoffs if they continue as they have to this point.
The West, however, is a different story. I'm not sure the Leafs can beat Vegas or LA in a series.

To be fair, they’ve sucked for one game. Every team has blip games. This one was ugly but there’s a strong chance we go right back to winning.

And that one bad game won't even result in them losing ground on anyone. Florida keeps losing, Boston keeps losing. The division is turning very mediocre.

In their last 25 games the Bruins are 13-12. They are pretty cooked.
